Garbage Cans, Why so many?

because theres also thousands and thousands of people, heh.
The worst garbage problem that I see is after the laser show. People just leave all the crap on the ground without even considering walking 10 feet to throw it out.

The park is #1 because of the small things like that
I'm a sweeper at knotts, and knotts is the same with thousands of trash cans, but not enough in the queues or in a few eating areas. Having so many greatly cuts down on trash from first hand experience. The worst thing you could possibly have is for one of the larger trash cans (not picklebarrels like in ghost town here) to fill up. It will break your bag and then will break. Having so many insures we're able to dump them at a 1/4 full level like the standard operating procedure suggests. Its hard to keep an eye on 200 trash cans though! Blah, trash can rovering sucks.

About cigarette urns, I don't think its kitty litter, is it? Usually sand. We clean vomit with kitty litter ; )

Anyways, here at knotts we're phasing in these "smokers oasis" cigarette thingamabobs. No smell, no sand, doesn't need to be dumped regularly (unless CP really has as many smokers as I hear, no one in cali smokes). Problem is... Most people don't know wtf they are.

Off topic, but do CP sweeper(ettes) have a rollerblade crew? Rollerblading and sweeping at the same time.

More ashtrays woiuld be nice to see. It would lessen up the amount of buts in the bush.

Yes speedy, CP's urns are filled with litter. One advantage of this is the availability of it in case someone pukes on the midway. And no, CP sweeps don't have rollerblade crews.

Mozilla may have taken two years to reach v1.0, but it is more stable and secure than IE will ever be.

There is actually a great deal of thought that goes into the placement of garbage cans. Cedar Point has chosen to try and give the guests no reason to throw their trash on the ground. Disney does the same thing but their trash cans aren't as obvious.
I hate how everybody puts their trash in the parking lot before they leave. I never noticed that until this year, but it was so disgusting! There were huge piles of trash in so many parking spots...ugh.

Parentheses is my middle name!

If somebody didn't tell me that statistic, I would have never noticed all the trash cans at the park. So I don't think it's such a big factor, but I think it's better than trying to find a trash can when you accumulate so many things while walking. It's like walking in a marathon, you can speedwalk through the park and grab a drink from the side and need somewhere to throw it.

Life has it's ups and downs, might as well make it on a coaster!

Actually, it's oil dry not kitty litter. :-) (I know, I know, basically the same stuff)

they should do away with smoking all together. you cant smoke in line can you? i dont remember if this was a rule or a courtesy, but i hate when someone fires up when its 90 degrees outside in line. i cant breathe!

and seriously. the only i would ever complain about there being so many trash cans is if i was the guy who had to empty them all. the more the better. ever walk around the city with a can of soda with no trash cans to throw it away in.

Actually, from an employee's standpoint, more cans with less trash is easier to deal with that less cans with more trash. There is nothing worse than a heavy, overflowing trash can.

You should see the vacuum system they have at the WDW Magic Kingdom for disposing of trash. It is quite an interesting process.

I think they need to put ashtrays in more locations other than entrances to rides and some shops. Most of the time, I butted out the cig on the bottom of my shoe and tossed the butt in the trash cans, which I really did NOT like to do (did not want to start a small bonfire in the trash can).

And, as a smoker who OBEYED THE RULE about no smoking in the lines, they also need to have their queue walkers and rent-a-cops be more vigilant. Ragged me off that I "went without" while others got away with it.

Suggestions of "stop smoking" and "the park should go totally non-smoking" will be cheerfully ignored.

Dave I do agree that some more ashtrays would be helpful! I dont like the idea of putting a lit or barely lit butt into the trash!
