Futher Muckerdrink

With the standard liquors (vodka, whiskey, rum, gin, scotch, brandy, tequila) the "Top Shelf" brands are just more expensive, tastier brands. Karkov is a brand of vodka that is cheap and lots of bars use it as their rail brand, but it is 80 proof just like Smirnoff, Absolute, Stoley, etc. Same with the rest of them. I know they do make pre-mixes of popular drinks like Long Islands, and those are weaker than a hand-pour. But otherwise if you order say a margerita and ask for it top shelf, you will get Jose Quervo & Grand Marnier in it instead of Pepe Lopez & Triple Sec. Same alcohol content, just costs more and tastes better.

I am just wondering if they really make weaker versions of liquor for the Ohio bars. Do they sell them in stores, or are they just for the bars? I have never seen or heard of a 40 proof vodka, gin, etc., so I am quite curious. (I have managed to get plenty drunk at bars in Ohio, so maybe it is psychological, I really wasn't that wasted!) :)

I like how Maxine just kinda popped up at the mention of a futher mucker. :D

Can you really blame Louies for making the Long Islands with the diluted crap though? I mean, look at the size of the cup they come in. They're like Big Gulps. If they were to use all top shelf Liqour those things would cost at least 15 bucks a pop. You have to remember, Long Islands are almost all alchohol, theres only a small amount of sweet and sour mix and a splash of coke.

So...has anyone called Louie's yet to get the recipe? I am curious now, and would like to try this magical drink.

Trust me, axelcat, I know my liquors. ;) My drink of choice is a Grey Goose or Vox on the rocks, or a Glenfiddich Portwood 21 yr. single malt scotch. Can't always have that, though, so I take what I can get.

I know what "top shelf" is, but at some places, their "top shelf" is what most others use for standard liquors.

Thanks for the link! I have never heard of "Diluted Vodka"! Unbelievable. I wonder what they dilute it with? I know where I worked, our rails were all 80 proof. I never get well drinks anyways, so I guess I'm safe. Do they sell that crap at the liquor stores? Why would anyone buy it, I'm sure it tastes terrible and then you have to choke down twice as much? Well, I learned something new today, not about Cedar Point, but hey, I didn't start this thread.

By the way, exit, you know how to get your drink on in style, don't cha?

Try living in PA where you can't get ANYTHING with alcohol in it in the grocery store.

Yeah, I drink in style. Sometimes my wallet hates me for it.

Then again, I'll drink natty light if there's nothing else around. I'm just that diverse.

Yuck! (Sometimes ya gotta do what ya gotta do I guess.)

So where is Louie's anyway? In Sandusky? I have only been to one bar in Sandusky, I wonder if taht was it.

I must try one of these Futher Muckers next time I head down there. Has anyone found the recipe yet?

Nic

I believe that the drink is actually called a "Mother F***er" but Louie's just changed the name, try looking that up to see if it's the same thing. All I know is that is one hell of a drink and after I've had one of those and a few

The Fother Mucker was my first drink at Louies... During '04, my Louie's drinks of choice were the 2.00 Beer, Dave's Special, and the Strong Island Iced Tea (w/ Bacardi 151)...

Oh, and those yummy Jagerbombs... and Liquid Cocaine...

Ok I think thats it...

Liquid Cocaine! That's my OTHER drink of choice. Nobody around here knows how to make it. In fact, one night, I actually had to sit at the the bar and tell the bartender how to do it. :)

Cmon Josh, downing a bottle of 6 dollar Caruzan Rum around a campfire isn't very stylish. Although there was the one time we ran up a 60 dollar bar tab in an hour at fridays!

AHHH yes, Popov you will commonly find that along with Mohawk strewn about the alleys of Hamtramck.

Damn polocks.

Hey where did my wild turkey go?

Polocks know how to drink better than that, its all the wannabe's that leave that garbage lying around.

I have the same problem with all the jerks who think that because its March 17 they have an excuse to "be" Irish.

Goodbye MrScott

John

Liquid Cocaine is alright, but I'll stick with a shot of 4 Horsemen (Jim,Jack,Johnny and Jose all together) or straight Beefeater.

You should try a Four Horsemen Gone Hunting. It's got the 4 Horsemen and Wild Yukon.
