Fun Night Life in Sandusky?

The Pun's avatar

Hey all,

My buddy (Club411) and I are from Chicago and coming out for opening weekend. We staying at the Breakers and looking to see what are the best places to have fun or a few drinks at night. We made it out twice last year and had a blast. However we do like to go out and see the night life and get to know the locals.

I think we went to the Thirsty Pony one night last year and I acquired a sweet guitar drink, but the place seemed more family themed. I know Sandusky is huge but figured you guys would know some of the best places to go outside the park.

Thanks in advance, any info would be great and we will buy ya a round when we come to town.

There are a couple options-

If its warm and you are looking to do some more vacationing, I suggest catching a boat to PIB or Kellys-the booze cruise is on weekends (not sure when it starts) and theres the Jet express also.

Downtown sandusky has a couple bars on the waterfront that are decent and then there are a few in Huron, city nearby.

Dailys, I5's, Brass Pelican, Cabanna jacks, Lyman Harbor are a couple you can search

Tuesday nights from 7:30pm-9:30pm in July & August are the Sunset Cruises on the Goodtime I boat line that leaves from the Jackson Street Pier in downtown Sandusky. The drinks are cheap and VERY STRONG!!

The boat fills up very quick so you may want to make reservations the day "of" or be at the dock by 6pm/630pm.

Each week they highlight different entertainmemt too. A great event!

If your looking for night clubs with music and dancing:

Louies: Many types of themes each day of the week. I believe though Wednesdays and Sundays are just for employees. They have a good DJ, About 3 Big screens, Drinks, and a mechanical bull.

There are 2 gay bars in the downtown part. One is called X, and the other is called Crowbar. Even though it is a gay bar, everyone there isnt gonna be a homosexual. We went together as ride crew and enjoyed the night. Crowbar have the cheapest drinks!

On the road as the same as walmart, they have a cheap place to drive go-carts and play putt-putt.

There are quite a few bars in Sandusky. Head out from the park and take first street toward downtown. Lyman Harbor (http://www.lymanharbor.com) is a nice place that is very close to the park, they attract an older crowd (35 and up) if you head into Sandusky there are a few bars that cater to the younger crowd (21-35).

The gay bars (X and Crowbar) both have nights where 18 can get in as well as Louie's. Louie's is VERY close to the employee housing so usually gets swamped with employees. The new owner is really cool and they have spent time and money on improving the place.

The gay bars are both very Hetro friendly and, during the summer you will rarely have any issues if you are straight. It is a very mixed crowd during the summer (not so much during the winter but still a mixed crowd).

In downtown Sandusky, on Columbus street next to the State Theater, is Mona Pizza (http://sanduskyslice.com) they offer pizza by the slice and stay open late (4am on the weekend) during the summer.

Goofy Golf is on 250 just over the Butler Street Ramp. Leave CP and follow the signs to US250. You will see Goofy Golf on the left right after the plaza with Blockbuster and behind the Ponderosa (both closed businesses :) )

I personally don't prefer Thirsty Pony but they do have a full bar, Laser Tag, Horse Races, and even a water park. If interested in something else to do check out Ghostly Manor (http://ghostlymanor.com) on 250 they have a Haunted House, Skating Rink, Black-light Mini Golf, and XD Theater. No alcohol but there is a nice Mexican restaurant in the same parking lot that has a bar.

There's also a new movie theater behind the mall that has some late showings. And that's about it for late night stuff in Sandusky. This year the park is staying open till midnight in June and July so by the time you would leave the park (if you stay till close) there won't be much else open in Sandusky.
