Frontier Town

Hey everyone,

With the addition of Skyhawk and the dismantling of White Water Landing, does anyone else have the feeling that the days of Frontier Town are numbered and that the theming of that side of the park will be changed?

In my opinion, Skyhawk is just to modern looking to be in the area of the park.

Why don't we just tear everything down, plant trees and waste that section of park.

Absolutely - I've always thought that CP needed the record of most basketball courts in any amusement park.

I think that new additions and room for expansion back there signals the end, as I have said before.

Well Millennium Force is located along Frontier Trail. Millennium Force is modern looking. In my honest opinion Frontier Trail, and Frontier Town will be fine.

its days are numbered, too much room back there and expansion will happen.

You know what I heard? I heard that they are painting the Cedar Creek Mine Ride red with yellow supports next year, and Mean Streak will follow!

I think that they will keep the frontier trail and that frontier town will slowly disappear.

No. It won't happen.

What? the yellow and red paint or the disappearance of FT?

Cause I don't think I'd underestimate the power of yellow and red paint if I were you.

I was personally hoping for Gemini and Mine Ride have matching stations myself ;)

In all seriousness, the park is continually going through a renewal, we saw the front end of the park redeveloped from older attractions such as the Sea Land Aquarium and Kid Arthur's Court to attractions that draw more people to that area. Same goes with what was once Jungle Larry's, the Mill Race, and the Western Cruise. All of these areas were redeveloped for people-drawing attractions.

Is Frontier Town leaving? I'm not sure, but what I'm sure is that Cedar Point is redeveloping that area to draw more people. From what I see, there still is a Frontier Trail after they built the Millennium Force and there will still be a Frontier Town after Skyhawk opens.

Seeing that White Water Landing's site was only a ride and NOT Frontier Town, how can you possibly deduct from your information that Frontier Town's days are numbered?

Just because! So there!

But Rob, a screamin' swing is SO MODERN LOOKING!!!

I mean, it's white, and nothing in Frontier Town is white at all! not even the Town Hall, which it happens to be sitting right next to.

While FrontierTown has always been a nice relaxing place to visit, it does need some sprucing up with new rides, etc. I don't think they chose the theme for the new ride very well. It should be of a darker color scheme and a diff name. Also another ride that might help the back would be a Virgina Wheel or something else wooden.

I think that when Frontier Town was built (1967), that westerns and the like were still very popular (ie: TV) and thus Frontier Town was very popular when built.

I look at it in two different way:
1. The type of atmosphere that surrounds Frontier Town has somewhat lost popularity over the years, which may be cause for its demise.
2. A Frontier theme is something that is different from the norm, and therefore may be kept.

Either way, I like the atmosphere of Frontier Town and hope that it stays around for a while. I do agree, though, that it will probably lose some of its atmosphere with the addition of Skyhawk and the removal of White Water Landing, but I think the park could easily keep the area alive with a little work. IF it's days are number, I don't it will just be torn down, but rather slowly disappear over a number of seasons.

What's not to get about the color scheme of SkyHawk? It's going to look like a couple of white pillars on the front of an important building i.e. Town Hall. The damn thing is going to sit between 2 white buildings and across from a white gazebo and an antique car ride with white picket fences and a set of white steps going over the road. It's not like everything around it is all brown and woody like it is on the trail.

^^^ Thankyou exit english, finally someone has seen the light!;)

I don't think the colors will be a problem either, considering the number of other things in that area that are white. *** Edited 11/11/2005 4:47:30 AM UTC by DBCP***

Actually Skyhawk might add to the Frontier Town feel the more I think about it. All they need are a few tumbleweeds in the area.

Because that's going to be a very windy part of the park ;)
