Fall Fridays, during Halloweekends but especially during bonus weekends before the event, were consistently very lightly attended in years past. This has become a much more hit-and-miss phenomenon in recent seasons. Any given Friday is still probably going to feature lighter crowds than the following Saturday though.
My author website: mgrantroberts.com.
I was at the park for two Friday night sessions last year, and the crowds were fairly heavy. Wait times were comparable to Sundays during the same time of the year. I was there in the fall of 2008 on a Friday, and the crowds were light as could be, with most ride waits being one cycle or less.
It's still probably not a bad time to go, but I haven't heard any reports of the crowds being as light as they were.
The path you tread is narrow, and the drop is sheer and very high.
September 9th, during the post-Labor-Day/pre-HalloWeekends limbo, was absolutely dead last night. To the point that they were even allowing re-rides. My friend said you could have fit the entire population of the park in Millennium Force's station. Which is what I expected, and why I wanted to go last night, but unfortunately had other commitments. :( I may try for tomorrow afternoon, but there are thunderstorms in the forecast...
But yes, "bonus weekend," assuming the park isn't rented for a Honda company picnic or something, typically has the shortest lines of the season. Hence all the discounts and passholder specials. HalloWeekends Fridays are another story, and as Ensign said are hit-or-miss.
I think I rode more on Friday night than I have the whole rest of the season combined, and I was only there for 3 hours and also caught the open rehearsal for the show in the Garter (which is phenomenal by the way).
And then one day you find ten years have got behind you
No one told you when to run, you missed the starting gun
I went last year on a Friday about this time of the year and it was pretty packed. To make things worse it was very windy and TTD was closed until 11:00.
Speaking of when to visit, what are Sundays like this time of year? Is it hit or miss, does it depend on the weather, or is it generally less crowded? Thanks!
