Friday Sept 19th

Hey, Folks, CP is not my home park. It is 6 hours away. MiAdv is an hour away from here. From what I understand, MiAdv won't be adding any new rides and neither will CP.

I have been to MiAdv more than 5 times this year and spent two 3 or 4 day stints at CP.

Where is the resaon to go in 2004? I just don't see it. I've ridden them all multiple times and (for me) it's time for something new.

An annoucement from MiaAdv *may* have changed my purchace desision, but right now, I'm taking 2004 off as far as season passes.

That's fine, I guess I can see your point. See, I'm a Cedar Point fan. For me, there's always a reason to go back.

I know what you mean, I can never have enough CP (or even MiAdv for that matter, Shivering Timbers rules). I will be renewing my season pass even though there will not be any new rides.
I too was at the park Friday night. My nephew flew in for the weekend from Las Vegas and we headed to Sandusky. Now I knew before we even left that Isabel was going to cause trouble, and she did. I just wanted to say one thing here. We jumped in line for TTD just before close, and by midnight we were in the station waiting for the front. Then came the dreaded announcement--TTD down for mechanical. I bet there weren't more than 50 people left to put through the line. Probably fewer. Now CP could have just called it a night and sent us all home. But they didn't. Instead, they invited us to stay if we wished while they worked on the problem. After a short wait we rode, and I experienced my first front-seat ride on Dragster. I left the park thankful that CP considered the last guests of the night just as important as the first guests.
MForce, your story illustrates the difference between CP and most if not ALL other parks.

That is the reason we buy our passes and spend many a days at the park.

From this thread it appears last Friday was not up to "CP standards" (which we all agree are quite high). It will be quite different this evening I am sure (heck The OTT Family will be on the Midway that alone makes it a better day at CP:))

I *still* ride corkscrew @ CP, nearly every trip. It's still fun. It isn't as exciting as when I was a whippersnapper in the early 80's, but I don't have to wait 45 minutes to ride it, either.

It's not war, famine, or pestilence; it's only downtime.

New additions isn't what makes me buy a season pass. CP does have a lot to offer with their current line up of coasters. I would have been just as happy if I hadn't gotten any rides on TTD this season, just as I was happy in 2000 when MF was built and didn't ride IT until very late in the season.

As an optimist, I'm also hoping the single train operation last Friday was due to Isabel's leftovers (aka wind) and is not a harbinger of future Friday nights. If they can't have their major coasters running at capacity, they need to offer more to do besides the haunted houses.

I'm planning a Friday/Saturday trip for the 10th/11th

hey all you cp fans,

just to clear up some confusion for you all that were upset that raptor only ran one train on friday nite, sept. 19. i'm on the raptor '03 crew and i worked that nite. the reason we only ran one train was initially b/c of the winds. but when the winds died down, we couldn't put another train on b/c we hadn't done block checks, which is basically a test to make sure that the trains stop where they are supposed to when the train ahead of it stops. since we didn't do a block check then we couldn't put more trains on. but if i do say so myself, i think we did a pretty good job for just one train.
