I had been planning to go to Cedar Point this weekend for about a month, and after reading the advice on the Cedar Point Blog, I opted to go on Friday, instead of Saturday. I have to say, the lines were longer than I expected.
First off, I would like to say that the coasters were flying. All the coasters were going much faster than I would have expected for a cool evening.
maXair was fun; a good addition to that area of the park.
Wicked Twister was open. I assume this was operating in place of Dragster. This was the first time I have ever seen the ride operate where you were able to choose any seat you wanted, not just the first or last seat on the ride.
Power Tower’s line was longer than I wanted to wait with only one tower in each direction running.
Raptor was running very well and had very little wait. Still very little trim on the mid-course.
As most of us know, Demon Drop is up for sale, so I decided to ride that. I was surprised to see there was no wait. Just walked onto the station and into one of the cars.
Blue Streak had a short wait and was running fast as well.
Magnum. Wow. I had three rides on it, one was OK, two were incredible. The combination of a smooth ride, with the cool air made Magnum amazing. Why can’t maintenance keep Magnum running like this all the time? A peculiar note: the two good rides I had on Magnum were both on the red train.
On one of the rides, the guy sitting in front of me had one of those flashy light things in his pocket. I could see that it wasn’t very secure, and sure enough on one of the bunny hops it came flying out. I tried to grab it, but I missed. The person sitting behind me managed to grab it.
I also got stopped at the brakes just past the tunnel for the first time too.
Werewolf Canyon had an hour wait when I went past it, which was longer than I wanted to wait, when I can get into the Fright Zone with no wait. I know many people think that Werewolf Canyon isn’t worth their time, but I have to say that I think it’s a good attraction. I think it’s a better use of the space than Thunder Canyon would be in October.
Undertaker U was less than I had expected, although the spinning tunnel room was kind of neat. I can imagine they would put something like that in the old-fashioned fun houses.
The Fright Zone was as good as I had expected. I managed two passes through, both times from the back. The screamsters were doing a good job, although I never did find the one with the trashcan I had read about in one of the other forums. The fog didn’t seem very uniform. In some places the fog was so thick, I couldn’t see my own cataracts. While in other places, there wasn’t really any fog at all.
Millennium Force ran well. That first drop never ceases to amaze me.
During the evening, I had some of Cedar Point’s classic fries. The wait there wasn’t too bad. I think they did a fairly good job considering how long the line was. I wanted to grab an elephant ear on my way out of the park. I went to try and get one right after my closing-night ride on Millennium Force, but they had closed right aft er I had gotten there.
Interesting note: As we were driving back, I saw a red sedan with the Michigan plate CEDARPT get off 23 at the Ypsilanti exit. I figure whoever was driving that car must have been at the park as well, seeing as how we both got there at the same time.
I thought hers was CUATCP, Ohio plate.
I'm not sure who's got the CEDARPT plate. I know Betsy(raptorqueen) has Michigan Plate CEDRPNT.
