FOX NEWS CHANNEL

I was just watching FOX NEWS at 6:25(Central time) and saw a segment on TTD! They should actual footage of it testing, the rest wan't very special. They showed the test dummies and that was pretty much it. I am surprised how slow this thing goes over the top!

Does it stop at 420 feet in the air.......?¿?
No you still have to spiral down

What good is the ride if it doesn't give you at least a second or two of view? I guess airtime would be cool, but ride the magnum if you want that :P
I was pleased to be able to see it here in North Carolina. We don't get to see much about it here, except on the web sites.
I have had a couple dreams about TTD, and although dreams are a far cry from reality, I really believe the scariest part will be wondering if the train will make it over the top hat or not. For me, I think the best ride will be one where it goes very slowly over the top.

ONE freeway stamp a day... ONE

Vanessa, I never really thought about the speed over the top, and I think I agree. I do suspect there will be good airtime over the top even at slower speeds, but you are right on the mark. I certainly do want to spend a few seconds at the top and take in the view.

I can already see myself going "I think I can, I think I can, I think I can...I thought I COOOUUULLLD!!!" :)

By the way, aren't we allowed two Freeway stamps a day this year?

I would rather hear synthesizers sing than hear rappers talk.

yep two this year, only one for mf and ttd but the rest (mag, mantis, raptor,wt) you can use two

I glad it goes slow on top because I want to take a look or two at the park from 420 feet.

Gas for drive to Cedar Point: $25
Ticket to Cedar Point: $43
Drink while in line for ride: $3
Travel 410 feet in the air: Priceless

I don't know, I don't mind heights, but taking in the view is something else for me...

I was just channel surfing here in Sandusky and this segment (I assume it was the same segment) was in progress on the Toledo FOX station. It wasn't much, but it was the first REAL video I have seen of the launch process.

I went to the park tonight after work to get my parking sticker, but it was misting (not even really raining) and the attendant said that they weren't applying any parking stickers to the windshields because of the rain.

I can deal with that. It's no big deal for me to go over whenever, but I wonder how many people come in from longer distances and get turned away. Anyone? In that case, do you just wait around for the rain to stop?

Fox Toledo just did an awesome 5 minute segment on the testing. They showed "Fred," the dummy full of sensors that rides and measures all the forces. It was awesome to see that thing running, shooting down the track at 120 MPH. For the record, they are only tesing with 4 of the 5 cars on the train. They ended the segment with a nice rollback where the train made it to the very peak, paused for a second, and came back down. They explained that under certain contidions, the trains might not make it over on the first launch.

In all, it was a very nice little feature. By the way, the inside of the station looks really cool!

"If you're standing in an uncomfortable position, that means you are in the right position because you are riding Mantis!" - Mantis ride op doing spiels on closing day.

John Carle, how did you see it in North Carolina, was it shown country wide? If it was I missed it. They still might be working up to full speed for testing so it might go faster over the top hat when TTD opens. Even if this is the full speed it will run at, I'm sure you will still recieve airtime and a great view. This is some thing I've been wondering for a while, do you think TTD will be the coaster with the most consecutive airtime? If you don't understand what I mean, here's an example: S:TE at SFMM has something like 6.5 seconds of airtime on it's verticle hill. I don't know what the record is but how many seconds of airtime do you think you will get on TTD?
I also saw the piece here in Toledo. Nice testing video. Those trains really are amazing, the pictures don't do them justice at all.

Ralph, inside of the station? What inside of the station? In order for something to be inside doesn't it at least have to have two walls? :)

I was in the bathroom and my dad was watching the 10:00 FOX Toledo news & yelled at me that it was gonna be on. It was pretty good coverage. Fred the dummy has got to be one lucky guy! ;)

I think this thing will go faster over the top than everyone thinks. I think it looks like it is slow because it is so big and far away. More of an optical illusion than anything. I bet there will be air time.
If you want to see the Fox News segment again, my best bet would be to watch tonight at 7:00 eastern time. The segment yesterday was shown on the Fox Report w/ Shepard Smith. Tonight at 7 is the Fox Report Saturday edition, and even though Shepard Smith isn't hosting (as far as I know), it's a good possibility that the segment will air again.

And for those of you who don't know, the Fox News Channel is shown nationwide, depending on your cable company.

You guys also have to remember that they are testing the trains with one less car. With the extra car added, the speed of the launch will be the same, but the inertia of the train will be higher, making to go over faster.

Is this why a bowling ball will travel higher than a golf ball if you throw them up at the same speed?

You might want to think again...

Weight carries speed farther...that's what I'm guessing.

Did they say why they are testing it with only 4 out of 5? Just wondering

OMG! The Space Spiral is leaning!!" Must be the weight of that new air conditioning system everyone keeps hypothesizing about...
