Found somehing that dwarfs dragsters launch

I am currently watching a show on history channel called modern marvels. They are doing a show on runways. The us government has a runway surface testing facility to design and test runways for the space shuttle. In order to simulate the speed and weight of the shuttle on the runway, they have a 6 ton slee that they launch with water pressure from 0-250 in under 2 seconds. OH HOW I WANT TO STRAP A SEAT ON THAT BABY!

I didn't see the show, but I wouldn't be suprised if it's over 6 g's. I'm sure it wouldn't be very comfortable to ride.

Steel, my calculations show a 250 mph launch in 2 seconds would yield 5.68 Gs, which makes sense since it twice as fast as Dodonpa and that pulls 2.7 Gs. You are right, it would not be comfortable.

Speed, TTD stands for Top Thrill Dragster at Cedar Point(the tallest and fastest coaster in the world) - 120 MPH and 420 feet tall.

Hey Tom do u see what I have bolded now does that look like TTD. Now see I was being sarcastic because he misspelled TTD. I'd still take a F-18 ride over that any day....you get the launch off the carrier, about as intense as you can get without harming yourself, and then the biggest drops and all the airtime you want. If there is one group of people I envy, it's definitely fighter pilots.

Don't the ejection seats on fighter planes pull something around 50 G's??? Yes, it's short, but much more intense than any other typical launch.

The ejection seats frequently cause neck and back injuries. Then again, ejecting is better than crashing with the plane.

The launches on current roller coasters will only cause minor discomfort if at all. When things become intense as to cause moderate to severe discomfort is when it becomes painfull rather than fun.

Hey speedzonetl04, since we're talking about signatures, can I ask what you mean by "paid rollbacks". If you don't already know, the launch requires pressing 2 buttons, and the rest is done automatically. So whatever rollbacks you had weren't planned or caused by any ride operator, and I'm wondering who got the money for it, cause I sure didn't!

(Deja vu for this summer with me getting all "technical")
Technically, we as ride ops could have caused a rollback if we pressed E-stop during the middle of the launch, as proven by the power outage, and any of the hydraulic system E-stops we had. Now granted, anybody that would have done that would no longer be at Dragster and possibly no longer employeed. But, regardless, a ride op could cause a rollback.

BTW, I miss cycling the ride with you on Fridays, Brent.

keep saying stuff guys..its soo funny when brent answers back..i see things the way he does, and patrick....unless youve actually read the manual and worked the controls there is really no way to actually have the knowledge of how it works....im sure all of you who post on here are very knowledgeable about the ride and you love it but there are things that even intamin doesnt even know about the ride that i bet the crew that had to be there 24 hours a day like patrick, brent, amy j, christen...they know...but it is amusing to read so keep posting please!!!
