I just started an HR job in a very large and fast growing accounting firm in Detroit. When I interviewed I had my HR experience from CP on my resume (along with two other temp jobs). The interview was mostly behavioral questions that allowed me to draw on my job experiences at CP.
How did working at CP help you in later jobs?
The thing about working at Cedar Point is that in many areas of the country it is pretty well-known. That breeds a familiarity with the interviewer and it sure can't hurt. Having Disney on your resume brings the same benefit.
Every job has customer service components and working at a park certainly requires you to learn customer service skills. That is important to any employer.
When did you work in HR?
"You can dream, create, design and build the most wonderful place in the world...but it requires people to make the dreams a reality."
-Walt Disney
Well, hopefully working at CP will help me to get a career in the amusement industry, preferably at CP, lol.

Two years ago Chief. In 2003. I really should not have gone back for a third season but I really needed a summer job that was remotely related to my degree.
Your right about the familiarity that CP breeds with interviewers. Everyone who saw CP on my resume asked me what it was like to work there. Where did you work?
I applied for a Management Position with a Restaurant Comapny here in Michigan. I got the Got because I was a Supervisor at CP. Also I own a Amusement and Party Rental Store and working at Cedar Point has given he help with my employees.

You also got the job you're at now because you know everyone and their uncle at Cedar Fair. :-p
I liked working in HR at Cedar Point but the job I have now is much better.

That's the funniest thing I've read on this site since "I bet that paper was planted there!".

Aww.. I feel so loved now.
Back on the serious note, you'd be surprised on how much having CP on your resume can help you. I've had some interesting offers based on expreience and reputation but I'm VERY happy where I'm at.
And where I'm going.

Cedar Point on a resume looks great to prospective employers, especially if you have supervision experience @ CP.
So I guess I could say, slaving away for 5 years at CP helped me get a job that I wanted to have at Cedar Point, but I took the job with another company making almost 3 times the amount of cash! If I would have known how LITTLE silvertags make per year, I would have quit a long time ago, but I used to have such great love for CP I stayed- of course that love for the park is not there anymore- having bad management can really change the way an employee works, and respects the company.
