Former Employee Reunions

Hello everyone,

I'm new to this site and I worked at the Point in 1994 in Rides-- Mine Ride and an extra on Monster, Witches Wheel, and Dodgem 2. (I know it was like a 100 years ago!!) Like most of you I too had the best time of my life.

I was wondering if there were any type of reunion events for CP Alumni? I would love to get together with some of my old buddies.

Best memories: Raptor truely ruled the sky that year. Meeting people from all over the world. Simply the coolest crews to work with ever! Getting my bonus, and a good letter from a sup. Employee ride nights- Riding Magnum at night, no lights from soak city and smelling campfires from camper village, as you roared through the pretzel. Emergency ride night on Snake-River Falls due to heat. The Big Bash. Louies! Great Roomies.

Worst Memories: Muffleheads! Enough said!

Hope this sparks some memories for my fellow collegues out there.

Mine Ride 1994

It wasn't 100 years ago. Only 11 (I can relate. It's only been two years since I last worked at CP but it seems like a lifetime ago) :) I personally don't know of any employee reunions that CP plans and the only employee parties outside of the regular season is the annual Christmas party which is also not endorsed by CP. It's just kind of a thing.

But there are websites reunion like websites, like classmates.com, where you can not only keep in touch with old classmates but also former co-workers. And those sites offer at least some tips on planning a reunion.

If I remember right, Valleyfair had a reunion for former employees a year or two ago. I think it would be awesome for C.P. to sponsor one sometime in the summer.

If they did, I don't think I would want to go.

Why not?

Because it's a part of my life that I want to keep in the past. I have fond memories but I want them to stay memories. A CP reunion would include a lot drinking and partying. Both are things that I'm not into anymore. Both are things that I'm ashamed to admit I was involved in at all (even though some funny stories came out it). I've changed, that's all.

It would be nice to see the Raptor Boys from 1999... Those guys changed my life (and one SAVED my life). It would be nice to have an alumni get together.

that would be awesome to see my old friends ive been away for only 2 yrs and it feels like forever. I miss everyone who I used to hang out with im coming to the point for the screamsters this yr! YAY!

A reunion? why not the crew I was on back in 2000 was great I'll never forget Keith from scotland who would stay at the same position all day if you let him. Good times man.

The Paddlewheel crew from 2000 would outdrink all of you :)

The Western Cruise crews from 1981 and 1982 also knew how to have fun!

It would be great to have a alumni reunion. It seems like it has been ages since I worked there. (1993-1997). Does anyone know how to get one started or has contacts at the park to help arrange one? It was great being a part of the original Raptor crew in 1994.

Actually Betsy I believe I saved you with a timely "hold" while the floor was dropping on Raptor! I think you were on spiels in the front of the train. I wasn't one of the 1999 Raptor Boys, but 2000 ain't bad.

I don't have a date in mind, but someone could come up with a specific weekend and designate it as "Cedar Point Alumni Weekend." This doesn't have to be something worked out with the park, but I am sure they would be interested.

I remember John grabbing me around my waist and pulling me away from the train on load 1 (THANK GOODNESS).

You were on speil and you did yell hold, so I suppose 2 of you deserve the credit (thank you!).

I remember who was running controls too. GRRRR

Actually, there have been a few employee reunions in the past few years. The Weight Guessers, from the 80's, came and spent a weekend working the scales a few years ago.

In 2003 a large group of Area 2 Rides Employees ( 1990-97) spent the weekend at the park together. That was a lot of fun. We all stayed at Breakers Express and had a great time. One of the TL's from the CP & LE Railroad arranged it and contacted everyone she could find on the Alumni Page.. that's a good way to go about it if you are trying to arrange one.

The original Raptor Boys ( Hi Skip) came and worked a weekend a few years ago.. and in 2004 a group of Area 2 Ride TL's
( 1990-1995) worked opening weekend. Although their actions were not becoming of Park Operations Leadership :) Cough.. Choke.. I have forgiven all of you!!!

Hey Jenn! I may try to round up some the Rides employees from 93-97 and see if anyone is intersted in a weekend. Do you know if any are around the area? Next time I am back in Ohio for a weekend visit, I may stop by and say HI! I do miss the train girls (Abby, Cheryl, Michelle, etc)

Hey captain Nate, I think the Camp Snoopy Crew of 2000, and 2001 held there own with you boat captains on several occassions! It would be great to get a bunch of people together for a weekend!
