Food Service; Famous Dave's BBQ

Hey --

I'm working at Famous Dave's this Summer and will be processing May 13th. I was curious to see if there is perhaps somebody out there who can give me some random knowledge such as how tips usually are, how "popular" or busy the place is, and so on.

I was a server at famous dave's last year and tips ranged from good to bad. some sections suck, some are good. You get frustrated with people but make some amazing friends there. The most I've ever made was about $390 on a open to close before tip out. It's really busy when the park is busy. Look forward to meeting you :).

Famous Daves...mmmmmm Glad they built one by my house while I worked at Cedar Point because I was sad to part with such a great dinner in my stomache lol! I never went when it was buzy, usually right before they closed.

well if were talking about suggested tips (meaning the bigger the bill, the bigger the tip), then compared to a famous daves that is not on cp property; your in good luck. The menu prices are slightly higher at the FD's along the causway then an off point location. I found that to be true. Not a bad thing, their service is absolutly wonderful, along a beautiful location.

Had terrible service saturday around 4:30p and waitress was coming off break and she seemed like she was still on break when she would come to our table ever not so often. We were there before the dinner crowd. Took 50 minutes from when we order to when our food came and then the order was screwed up. Been going there a lot in the past (even on opening day) and this was the worst!

I went on saturday too at about 7, and we didn't get our food until about an hour and 45 mins after we ordered it. About an hour into our wait the waiter even came out and gave us our check, we had to tell him that we hadn't even eaten yet...

The service is usually fast and good when we go there but this time was a let down.

wow, odd to hear as everytime Ive went I am always shocked the food comes out so fast.

HA HA, I went there on Saturday and Dennis was are waiter. He was awesome, and yeah its always busy when i go!

There were many problems on opening day, but I suppose that's to be expected with a lot of new employees. We got free dessert, but the wait for a table was 20 minutes longer than they said it would be, and we waited over an hour for our food to arrive.

On top of that, they weren't going to reimburse the $10 parking fee like it says right on the ticket... only after I spoke to a manager did I get the refund.

Since they built a Famous Dave's near my house, the one on the point has lost its appeal since I can go anytime.

Though I've never been there, somehow I imagine working at FD would be a lot like the movie Waiting...

You're talking about the little white ticket thing or other which you pay for parking. 10$ is supposed to be subtracted from your bill; no question. The server probably didn't know what was going on, either.

I wasn't the server trying to give you a hard time. The truth is that our management is poor and basically, they just throw us out there without any knowledge of even the menu. I hadn't even heard of a Famous Dave's before, but I'm a good server and can just be open and honest with customers when they ask questions about the food because honestly, I really didn't know anything about it the first few days I was working there this summer.

Do you remember who it was that waited on you? I don't think it was me, because I know about the parking tickets and such. Interesting.

I did not want to start a new topic about this so I will just ask it here. When does FD close during the week? O and the same fore TGIF's. I looked on the CP web site but could not find it.

Actually I would think it would be a bit more like some of the parts of this movie...[url] ;)
