Flying coasters?

I normally don't like flyers too much.. they get really long lines for a mediocre ride at best. But Tatsu is utterly beautiful. Some of the views you get from atop the mountain are just breathtaking. One of my favorite coasters for sure.

Vekoma flyers are terrible! Firehawk is the only ride I have been on where I actually felt as though I was going to fall out and die. B&M's are way better, and you do not feel as though you are going to fall out of the train.

Haha! I have the EXACT same feeling.

I think it would be a really cool ride if B&M and Intamin teamed up like they did on Hulk and come out with a launched flying coaster. All the same elements of Tatsu and Manta after a 75 MPH launch. Sounds fun to me. Of course the launch part wouldnt work till 4 months after opening day. ;)

I don't care who builds them, it's a crappy gimmick. Not interested.

I agree.

I have been to six flags chicago, and kings island(both parks have flyers) more than 15 times this past summer, and maybe been on the flying coasters twice between the 2 parks.

Like I said before, a good ride is something you can ride over and over agin, and still have fun.

what you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard.
Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it.
I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

With the caveat that Firehawk is the only flying coaster I've ever ridden, it nonetheless ranks among the worst coasters I've experienced.

The path you tread is narrow, and the drop is sheer and very high.

So, are you guys trying to tell me not to waste my time in line for Firehawk when we go to KI this Sunday?

You might as well try it. I thought it was ok. I don't think you can rule out all flyers untill you have tried Tatsu or Manta.

Well you can't have an opinion on it until you ride it. :)

If you've never ridden it, it's worth riding. I really liked it when it was still at Geauga Lake, however many people don't, and quite a few others are embarrassed to admit it. It's like getting caught riding a Vespa. That being said I've ridden it plenty times and wouldn't wait in too long of a line for it now.

Personally, I don't think they are terrible rides. And it is a unique way to experience a coaster. I like it better than any stand up I've ever been on, and can see its potential if only it had more speed and a few better elements. Half the time I find myself wishing the track was oriented the opposite way. Especially in the loop. (you face the center of the loop, it would be awesome if you faced out)

Not exactly high praise, in my book.

My author website: mgrantroberts.com.

I rode Superman at SF Great Adventure and it's the only coaster I won't ride again. Just the way it supports you made me almost sick to my stomach! I would definately ride another flier just to see if there's a differance.

I think that in genral flying coasters are not very good. However, I think that if CP ever builds one it would be cool to have a dueling type coaster.

-vertical lift hills that face each other(allows for some good trash talking the other train)

-many flyby elements where you actually get a clear view of the other train(unlike dueling dragons)

-some sort of heartline roll element where the 2 trains roll around each other.

Having another train to visually focus on will help keep a reletivly dull flying coaster exciting. Also, it would help give Cedar Point something unique that no one else has. Loading 2 trains at once would help with capacity. It would probably need a large footprint but it would be easy to market and attract the general public. Just a thought.

You know how much that would cost right?

Let's Get Weird.

It doesn't matter what it costs what matters is that the attraction matches its preceived value. You go enough years without a major attraction and you can afford to make a larger purchase like this. But i can guarentee that the price would still be less then Disney's Epidition Everest and Universal's Spiderman. So cost isn't that important if the ride adds great value to the park.

For CP it is something that would help them to further maintain the title Roller Coaster Capital of the World

I agree. Those two rides aren't even in the same class as the other flyers out there.

I have been on Superman at SF Great America and Tatsu. I loved Tatsu and it is way more fun then Superman.

I agree with what some other people have said. The loop or whatever that element is called is so intense and I have never felt anything like that on any ride I have ever been on.

Okay, rode Firehawk Sunday at KI. The ride itself was pretty cool, the kids all liked it and it was a nice change of pace. I wasn't impressed with the load/unload time though. Not sure if this was a flying coaster issue or a KI issue, but everyone knows how CP loves to move their load and unload quick. Maybe if they made a bigger one so you could run 4 trains instead of 2 running, it would speed things up some, but thats for someone with a heck of a lot more engineering experience than me to figure out.

It would be really cool if #1 if it is a B&M i would like comfort cause a Vekoma looks like a code word for painful and #2 if they theme it out really cool !! and have really cool elements to it as well, i wanna try one and see what they are like,i might ride it again if it is cool, a lot of people say Iron Dragon is lame but i like to take a spin on it a few times every year!

Being a Ride Warrior is just not a job!
It's a way of life!!!
I have ridden the all the coasters at K.I. and C.P. that i have lost count!!!!! and it is not the amount of times i have ridden, it is just the joy of riding them for me!!!!
