Flying Over Cedar Point

I did a search and found that you can rent a airplane to fly over Cedar Point. I was thinking about doing that but I have a few questions.
How much does it cost?
When(time/dates)can you do it?
Where can I get more information?

Thanks in advance.

don't do that! go parasailing instead!
I can not go parasailing because I can't bring my camera(it is big) with me nor would I be able to get the shoots I need.

mf laps = 100! No More No Less!!

There's a fly-over from 1989 (I think it's 89') in the Gallery section of this website... just thought I'd let you know...

Wow, a whole 100 laps on Gemini...Weaklings... Try 13 on Corkscrew! ;)
Screw laps: 13 and counting
It's a lot cheaper than you'd think. From Griffing, I think it would be under $50 depending on how long you go, maybe more like $30-40 (I've seen it advertised before).

BTW Andrew, check out the Sandusky area phone book while in town for the names of some charter services out of Sandusky-Griffing Airport. You will find some there. You may even want to look in the internet yellow pages.

For Bradon and I it was $35 each plus a tip.

You are very ambitious little Andrew. ;)

I think it is still cheaper if you have more people,if i recall correctly.
Dan?
I haven't flown over the park since Mantis was ready to open. But,back then it about $15/person if you had about 4 people.

I know this is an old topic but I just "had" to hash it back up. I was at the point this past week, and long about Wednesday night, I got to wondering, "Gee, I wonder if there is someone that does fly-overs of the park for a fee?" So not paying it much more mind than that, the next day I was riding around sightseeing and I came across the local airport and sure enough they offered sightseing tours. I had already made up my mind that I was going to do this no matter how much it cost. I went in and inquired about it and sure enough, it was VERY affordable. It was $33 for two people (both people pay that much) and 43 for a single flyer for a 15 minute session that includes one circle around the park and then a flyover of downtown Sandusky.

I immediately booked a flight for 1:30 that afternoon and man was I in for the time of my life! The pilot asked me if I was here to do the "Cedar Point Thing?" I said yeah, and
he said, "Well, if you want, I'll just circle you around the park if you really aren't interested in seing downtown. I readily agreed naturally. He ended up circling CP 3 times and then landing.

I must say, that this was the most awesome way to view CP I've ever experienced. The pictures and video I got with my digital camcorder are the absolute best I've taken. I would HIGHLY recommend this to anyone that wishes to take pictures of the park from a "different" angle other than the norm.

I'm always on a search for new Cedar Point wallpaper if you feel like sharing those pics. ;)

I remember when Brandon and I flew over for the construction of Force, looks like we will have to do it again this winter with the construction of the big D.

Dan! You were not supposed to tell anyone! For those of you that don't know, the "big D" is the statue of Dan going in Area 51.

Don't plan on getting great shots from the plane. The glare from the plexiglas can be a real nightmare for photo seekers. However, if your still wanting to take photos, make sure you take them before or after noon. That way you'll get less glare.
Just catch a plane from Cleveland to Chicago. According to Jeff you will fly over or near CP. :)

It depends on what runways they're using, but yeah, I passed over it one night on the way back from Portland via O'Hare. Looks a lot like the satellite photo, actually.

I also noticed coming back from my honeymoon that our approach that day put us right between CP and Cleveland coming in from perhaps London, Ontario. You could see both shores of Lake Erie, a tiny downtown Cleveland, and at CP you could see a small vertical line (Space Spiral) and a "swoosh" (Millennium Force).

Yesterday a few pilots circled Cedar Point using the perfect aerial photo platform...the park was circled a couple of times by a fleet of FOUR Goodyear blimps.

That just sounds odd.

Perhaps for a "before" shot of the inevitable promo video for T-452?
