Chaos is cool! I didn't really like Witches' Wheel, it just reminded me of an overgrown Matterhorn, plus it took me forever to figure out the darn restraints (there's GOT to be an orange seatbelt here somewhere! :) )
Actually, the orange seat belts were added to the Witches Wheel last season. They're attached to the tub door and have a dog-clip on one end which hooks to a ring on the back of the tub.
Witches Wheel is a Huss Enterprise. The Enterprise is always a fun ride to watch thefirst-timers on. They all do the same thing. They sit down, they pull the door closed...then they start looking for the seat belt. :)

Do the Carousel's count?
Besides the assortment of roller coasters, my favorite thing at the point is there assortment of Carousels. Anyone else remember when the park had five fully operating (four fully restored) Carousels?

Dispatch Master, This is Transport one! I'm losing control, I'm losing control!
Magnum, when was that? My memory only goes back to four carousels including Cedar Downs. As I said previously in this thread, I was pretty disheartened when they moved the Frontier carousel to Dorney Park. So, what and where was the fifth? I suppose you can tell from my handle that I'm a fan of carousels!
Magnum is sinking is going back in time a few years! In the eighties Cedar Point did have FIVE carousels, Midway, Kiddieland, Cedar Downs, Frontier Carousel & a small Kiidie Carousel. That's the five.
If you like the carousels do you remember when ALL the horses on the Midway carousel were "jumpers"?
The horses on the midway carousel *are* all 'jumpers'. But the ones on the outside row don't go up and down. I thought the outside horses never did go up and down, at least not in my memory...but clearly that used to be a bigger machine, and when it was, the current outside row figures would have gone up and down and another row of figures would be around the outside. But I am guessing that change probably happened before the machine arrived at Cedar Point...probably about the same time as the flourescent lighting and the Astro-Turf appeared...

Rideman...The Midway Carousel originally had 64 horses and ALL "jumped" went up and down. Not sure of what year but definetly before 1981 (hey running the carousel along with the Mill Race was part of the job that year)CP removed four horses and put in the chariots which are on the ride to this date. The remaining 60 horses still all "jumped". Not sure but I believe when the Midway Carousel was moved to it's present location is when CP changed the outside row of horses to "non jumping"
I also noticed somthing odd this season that I never noticed before. Every other horse on the Kiddie Carousel is not a jumper. The arms on seem like they are supposed to move. I guess I just don't make enough trips to Kiddie Kingdom

"CP removed four horses and put in the chariots which are on the ride to this date"...Old Timer Tim, I must disagree with you on this one. There are enough vintage images of this carousel when it ran at Revere Beach, Massachusetts that disprove it. The 4 chariots on the Midway carousel are original to the platform. Also, no horses have been removed from the Midway carousel. Don't even get me started on any of that "used to have 5 rows" malarky.
Carousel Man covers this quite well.
The Midway carousel NEVER HAD FIVE ROWS.
The outside row of horses did all go "up and down".
The question is when did CP change this...best guess is when the Carousel was moved to it's current location

CoasterBunny, which rabbit? I made a big point of making my husband take a photo of me on my favorite rabbit when I was at the park Saturday. Although all the rabbits are neat (can't beat a carousel with four rabbits on it!), since I was a kid I have always favored the black one with white spots.
Speaking of carousels, I went to the Merry-Go-Round Museum in Sandusky for the first time yesterday, and I must say it was even better than expected. If I get the chance to write a trip report, I'll probably say some more about that.
