First Year 'Le Best?

Just out of idle curiosity, how many of you guys thought your first summer was the most fun? It seems the folks I've talked to tend to agree with me that their first summer was the best. God, I'm bored.

My first season was good but my second was the best because I got out of my room and hung out with my firends more. Also I made my second season better because I learned from my mistakes that I made during my first season.

I worked at CP for three seasons and my second was definetly my best. You already know all the ropes, you know where everything is located, you know all your supervisors, and you have friends to meet up with again.

But I think there are a lot of factors beyond your control that can make one season better than any other. My 1st and 3rd seasons I was not really close with any of my roommates - I could tolerate them, but we weren't best of friends. My 2nd season, one of my roomates and I became great friends - we just had an absolute blast. And the crew I was on my 2nd year consisted of an awesome bunch of people that I had fun with everyday.

My last season went downhill because most of the people I knew from my 2nd season were gone. I met a whole bunch of new people, but on the whole they could not compare to the ones I knew the previous year. I am actually a pretty solitary person, but one thing I learned at CP is that if you want to isolate yourself, then the whole experience is going to pretty much suck. But the more people you know and like and can have fun with, the more you'll love being there. So I think it just depends more on how many cool people you get to know, rather than what season it is for you...though it is a lot more relaxing to go back after your first year and know how to do everything. :o

i say its a draw. ... and i sat here pondering for a good 5 mins.

here's to hoping year 3 is the best... since it'll be my last.

First year was likely the worst, but that's Merchandise for you. I'd say that '98 or '02 was the best, but each year had great points that other years couldn't compete with. Overall, however, I'd say it did go downhill, what with policy changes and the people who were getting up there. I still think it's a great job, but there are far better ones out there for me (including what I do now).

My second year was definately the best. The first I had fun, but the second I went out more often, actually left my room, made closer friends, hung out with more people. The first year I was scared and timid and didn't really talk to anyone, but the second year, I was more open and outgoing.

i cant really comment but i t5hink my second season will be better than my first. there are certain people who are not coming back that i wish would but thats how it goes. my second season is going to be better because ill know what to expect and how to deal with things such as drama and the sort like that.

Depends on how you look at it. My first year was in 99 and in merch so im really kinda discounting it because of the 2 yrs i took off after that. but since i came back in 2002 my first year was the most fun i have had working, while last year was the most fun i had outside of work. Maybe because i had more time outside of work last year but i think its because i learned where people went and what i liked to do up there.

here is to a year better than all the others yet different because most of my friends over the last two years arent coming back.....

My first year was definately the best. I worked in Merch on the Snake River exit towel cart ALL summer long. Same hours every day, always 10-7. Always home, showered, ate, and ready to go to the bar by 10. Plus, my bestest friend Liane worked right across the midway from me at the Thunder Canyon towle cart, so we had the sweeps pass notes back and forth for us, until we got in trouble lol. We just learned to read lips and talked that way all day and laughed at people when they fell or did stupid things. It was absolutely wonderful. I had this tight group of girlfriends that year. We went out every single night, and on the rare occasion that we stayed in, AKA when we got the Cedar Point SARS, we just rented movies and all piled into one room and made a girl's night of it. Last season didn't even come close to comparing to that first season because I went back with a lot of expectations. That's what will ruin it for you. If you think it's going to be just like the summer before. It's not; it's a completely different experience, so just make sure to remember that! I keep telling myself this season is going to suck, so hopefully with my low expectations, i'll have one last perfect summer at CP!
