First Trip!!

7-29-01.  I know that this is a bit late, but we just got back from vacation.

We got to the park at 9:30, and my parents dropped my sister and I off at the entrance by the Marina. We still had about 20 minutes until the rides opened, so we walked through the frontier trail to Magnum XL 200.  We waited 10 minutes for the front seat, and were the 4th train out of the station of the day. What an awesome ride! I now realize why this coaster is a top 10. It blends smooth parts with some really fun 'getting thrown around' on the second drop and turnaround. The airtime on the third hill along with the six other camelbacks on the return run was simply incredible. Before I rode Magnum, I couldn't
understand why it was a top 10, but it was almost as good as Goliath, the only drawback was the trains, which were slightly uncomfortable. After that, we went on it two more times, both walk ons, and in the back car, which I think is better than the front (I am a back seat fanatic). Then we went to Gemini, which was a walk on, and was only running one side at the time. We rode in the back car. The first drop is great, there is some fun floating airtime, and a fun lateral g filled spiral.  Then we went to Mean Streak. Poor Mean Streak.  It was a complete walk on, and there were only two other people on the train with us. I can see why, though.  It's not very exciting, too rough for my likings, the brakes at the top of the first hill completely kill the first drop, and there was absolutely no airtime whatsoever. But the coaster itself looks really awesome. After Mean Streak, we decided to hop on Cedar Creek Mine Ride. It was a walk on, was really fun screaming at the top of my lungs throughout the
whole ride! This one was the better of the two mine rides that I have been on, the other being Gold Rusher. After the Mine Ride, we looked at the Millennium Force queue line, which was about an hour and a half long, so we decided to skip it for now. So we got in line for Iron Dragon, which was a 10-minute wait. I was very impressed with the Iron Dragon ride ops.  From the time my sister and I sat in our seats to the time we took off was less than 30 seconds! The whole day was pretty much like this, the ride ops were extremely efficient all day long. Now on to the ride.  I liked how Iron Dragon had two different sections to it. The first section was really graceful and more fun, and the second half was more intense and thrilling.  Then we went to the Power Tower. Now this is a fun queue line to be in! I had a blast watching the space shot side suddenly shoot up 240 feet, and seeing the faces on the riders! Then it was our turn. We chose the red (space shot) side. I lobe how they pick you off the ground just a bit, and then leave you there for so long, just sitting there. Then suddenly without warning you are half way up the tower, slowing down before there is a great weightless float a the top. After a couple fun bounces the ride is over. Now we rode Corkscrew, which was a lot more fun than I was expecting. Airtime, positive Gs, and a fun double corkscrew over a midway added up to a decent ride. Then we walked all the way down the midway to Raptor, but the line was well over an hour, so we went over to the air-conditioned Disaster Transport queue line.  Disaster Transport...hmmm...well? The best way to describe this ride is 'stupid-weird'. There was only one thrilling part on the whole ride, which was a strobe light section right off the lift. The theming didn't make any sense, either. In one section there was an astronaut, and in another looked like the South Pole! Then we come back over to Millennium Force to check out the line, and it was shorter, but still pretty long. So we took a brake, and then decided to wait for Millennium Force. The wait was an hour and 15 minutes, and then we got to ride! I was getting pretty nervous, and so was my sister! We rode in 12-1, and oh my God, what a ride! The first drop was like being launched off a cliff, it was that intense. Then the first over bank made me a bit light headed, and the first banked turn seemed like the fastest point on the ride! The airtime over the third hill seemed like it lasted forever. I didn't think that the next two over banks were going to be very exciting, but what surprised me were the sustained positive Gs that lasted the entire way through. Camel back number two had the most powerful airtime on the whole ride, and the second banked turn took me by complete surprise the first time. Camel back number three and over bank number four were very fun being right by the queue line, and were very quick. The whole ride was just so perfect. It seemed like it was one humongous smooth curve, and the speed just never let up. So, move over, Goliath, cause you only fall second next to the Force. Then we went back down the midway to Raptor, and waited only 20 minutes! It was a fun and very intense ride, but was a lot jerkier than what I was expecting form a B&M. We sat in the back car, and it was really cool how the first drop swung out over the midway, threatening to fling you out. After the first drop, my favorite part was the cobra roll, which was the most intense section. Then we came right back to Millennium Force, and I noticed that there was a very short wait. Then I saw that it was broken down, so we waited by the entrance until it opened back up. And when it did, there was only a 15-minute wait! It was the same incredible ride, but the short wait made it even more enjoyable. Then we decided to do the other side of Power Tower, the blue (turbo drop) side. We got on and slowly rose up 240 feet. Then waited at the top for the longest time, it seemed. Suddenly, we were screaming toward the ground, never touching our seats the whole time before a couple bounces. What a rush! We then went over to Mantis, which was a 50-minute wait. Mantis is a very fun and intense ride, and has really fun course with many very sudden and fast changes of direction. It wasn't just the inversions, which I really liked. Then my sister had had enough, so she sent back to our comp site at Camper Village after she bought me a Millennium Force t-shirt for my birthday. When I came back, I rode Gemini three more times, all three walk ons. This time they were racing the trains, which really adds a lot to the ride. Then I went over to Cedar Creek Mine Ride again, also a walk on. After the Mine Ride, I decided to try the Wildcat. This has to be the cheapest looking coaster that I have ever seen! It doesn't even have real footers, they are just blocks of wood! It's not really that exciting, either, but it is ok for a family coaster, I guess. After that, I rode the space shot side of Power Tower again, and then took the sky ride down to Blue Streak, which was a walk on. Blue Streak is a fun little woodie with some surprisingly powerful airtime on its low profile camel backs in between its larger hills. Then I rode Millennium Force again, this time I waited an hour for a night ride, and again in the back seat. It had to be twice as exciting at night than in the daytime. It was just awesome with all the lights and not being able to see where you are going with all the trees. I started to walk back to our campsite, but at the last minute decided to hop back on Magnum and Gemini once more. Then back to our campsite. It was quite possibly...wait, no; it was the best amusement park experience of my life. The park was well maintained, clean, had very efficient ride ops that were fun to be around, and had the best overall experience of any park I have ever been to. Just awesome!  Overall, I'm sorry to say it, sense it has been my home park for aboout 10 years, but Cedar Point just blows away Magic Mounatin without a doubt.  You guys have no idea hoe lucky you are!  Also, it was alot less crouded than I thaught it would be on a Sunday, but, hey, you won't find me compalining!
