Hey everyone. I'll be making my first trip EVER to Cedar Point on July 11th. I get Geauga Lake season passes every year, but I'm going to CP with my youth group. I was just looking for some tips and advice. I really wanna try and get in all, or at least most, of the coasters. Can it be done in one day? How long can I expect the big lines to be on a Monday. I'm just looking for any advice anyone can give me. Thanks a lot. ;)
The lines on Monday shouldn't be too bad, and you should be able to ride all the coasters in one day. The best strategy is to head to the back of the park right away in the morning, because there's usually not many people back there yet. If you get there early enough, most everything should be a walk-on. Then just work your way forward. The longest you will probably have to wait is an hour and a half, but maybe not even that long if your lucky. *** Edited 6/29/2005 8:59:03 PM UTC by FrontierDale***

You will have to know what you are doing and hurry if you want to do all the coasters. The best advice I would give you, is if you really want to ride TTD, and you see it open, ride it. So many things can happen if you wait for later in the day. Other than that, I would just agree to go to the back of the park first.

What all good coasters are in the back. I really wanna ride Top Thrill Dragster and Millennium Force before lines get too bad for those. Are they towards the back. Any other tips for the day?
It can be done in one day if your determined. The longest wait that I had on a monday was 1 hour and 30 min for mf. But your best bet is to get as many freeway passes as you can get for rides like Raptor and mf then youy can plan your day around those. Depending on how long you can stay the lines for the rides are much shorter in the evening. Even during the day some rides are walk-on's. Even if you don't get to all the coasters I promise it will still be a fun day at the point. After going once, you'll be back, trust me.
Hopefully I'll be able to go back. I'm sure it will be a fun day. ;) I can't wait to ride all the kewl coasters. I'm actually excited about Iron Dragon just for the fact I've never been on a suspended coaster. lol. There's a lot there I've never been on. lol. I'm stoked.
You should be, Bodes. You are going to the best place on the planet. Have Fun!

If you get there around when the park opens, you can head straight to TTD or MF if you want. Otherwise it probably won't make that much difference on when you ride it. Also, this might not work since you're with your youth group and probably have to leave at a certain time, but you can get in line for a coaster right up until closing time, and even a few minutes after. I do that a lot with MF. Usually the line is relatively short by then, and its amazing to ride at night.

Bodes, If you do get there when the park opens, there is a large chance that TTD might not be open yet. I would head over to Millenium Force as soon as the park opens because that can likely become the longest line as the day goes on. Once TTD opens for the day, it usually doesn't have quite as long of a wait.

Bodes, I agree you should go to the back first, another good plan is to get a Millenium Force hand stamp at 11, and a TTD one at 2pm.

What do you mean handstamp? Like a line pass thing. And if so, do you mean get it AT 11 or get it FOR 11. Plus, I want to thank everyone for their on going advice for me. I appreciate it a lot. ;)
They have a freeway systesm that allows you to get a time stamped on your hand, and you can go to the ride at that time to get into the line at a closer to the station point. They will give you a time period like say 6-7 and you can enter the shorter line at any time between 6 and 7. It is pretty handy to be able to skip some of the line. The freeway stamps are distributed starting at 11 and TTD's freeway stamps are given out starting at 2 pm. Once the stamps have begun to be distributed, they will give out a certain number of stamps for every hour period. It depends how early you get in line to get one of these stamps that determines what hour period you get. I was probably a bit confusing, but maybe someone else here can clarify if you have any questions.

lol. Oops. Didn't even catch my own grammer mistake. My bad. I'll try and get in line for those first so I can get one. How early do most people start getting in line for those?
I wouldn't think more than 10-15 minutes before they start giving them out. You don't need to go get in line for one right when you get in the park, that'd just be a waste of time.

For the TTD freeway, at least, I reccommend getting there at about 1:30. I got there at about 1:35, and the line was already about 75-100 people deep. By the time 2:00 rolled around, the line extended to the very end of Top Thrill. By that, I mean people were waiting next to the tower in line for a stamp. It was insane.
I also highly reccommend maXair. Even if the line extends back as far as Chaos (The big colorful spinning disc), the wait is only 20 minutes. Wait for it.
A couple contradictions, first (these are all IMO).
- I've been there on a Monday twice, the first time it was great, short lines all day, the second time it was packed with Sunday stay-overs, but as the day went on it thinned out (as they went home).
- I highly recommend the Freeway passes, but make sure you get there early. If you don't, it'll just end up that you wait the same time in line for the stamp as you would for the ride normally.
- Whoever said that TTD wouldn't be open in the morning, I have to disagree. I usually go in early with the resort ERT, and get in two rides or so before the park opens. When the front gates open though, the line is only out to a half hour maybe, but definitely running.
Okay now my recommendations:
- The back-to-front idea is a great one. Early in the morning, the Mean Streak/Frontier Trail area is absolutely deserted. Rides back there are almost guaranteed walk-ons.
- If you're in line for TTD and it breaks down, don't leave. They'll do their spiel about "we recommend that you ride other rides," but it's likely that it'll only be down 15-30 mins. It's worth it, trust me.
- I hate to spoil your joy, but Iron Dragon isn't that exciting =P
- They don't advertise this, but if you go to any concession stand that sells soft drinks, ask for an ice water (or water.. or ice...) and they'll give you a cup for free. Very helpful if it's hot and you don't wanna drop $3 for a bottled water.
- HAVE FUN!!
