I am heading to the Point on July 20, 21 and 22.
I will stay at the Breakers Express Hotel for these days.
I will arrive at dinner time on July 20. Because me and my family are staying at Breakers Express we will get early opening.
Tips for plan of attack? It will probably be crowded but there is no other day I could stay there. It is my first time visit and also probably my last.
Which coasters have early opening? What is the best idea to ride the most coasters? I only will be in the parc at July 21.
Could I be sure that Top Thrill Dragster is open?
I defenitly want to ride that one.
Also I wanna ride MF, Raptor, Maverick, Mean Streak, Mantis, Magnum XL and Wicked Twister.
Any help is really appreciated.
Thanks in advance!
/ Sorry for my bad English.
Ok Leon, to get you started, since you are staying at an onsite hotel, in this case Breakers Express, you will want to get to the park a little before 9:00, preferrably around 8:30, because you get in the park at 9:00, instead of the normal 10:00. Once you are in, I would suggest you head straight to the back of the park, to either Millennium Force, or Maverick. Do either of them as your first 2 rides. Next, I would suggest lining up for the Dragster next, IF it is open. Sometimes the ride is very sporadic in running, which means it can run on and off all day. I've been going to CP for years now, and I just got my first ride on it only about 2 years ago now. Every other time it was either to long a wait, or it was broke. After that, if you are still in ERT, I would suggest hitting the Raptor, as it can get to be a bit of a wait later in the day. Next, I would run for the Wicked Twister, as it is normally a walk on ride, and jsut a short walk from Raptor. From there, I would go to the Magnum, and I would also suggest a ride on the Gemini, as it is a race coaster, and you can normally walk on it to. As for Mantis, Its up to you, Its normally a walk on, but can get a bit long if the right crowd is in the park. I, though, have had one bad experience on the ride, and have never been on it since. The ride is a standing coaster, so the pressure can really hit your legs, and in my case, my head started to fell light, and my vision started to go black. I'm not trying to scare you from the ride, I'm just giving you a small warning about how the ride can be. Its fun except for what happened to me. Mean Streak, I would think you can ride that jsut about anytime during the day, as it is normally a walk on. i would also suggest you try a ride on the tamer, but still fun and historical, Blue Streak. Yes, its smaller, and slower than some, but airtime is at max, and it gives some great views. I would also suggest filling in the gaps with some of CP's excellent flat rides. The Power Tower, Drop side is my absolute FAVORITE!! Just watch the line of this, as it can get a bit long, depending on the crowd. I would also suggest MaXair, Skyhawk, Thunder Canyon (only if its really hot out!!) and Windseeker. A really good, and standing strategy to hit all the good rides, is to START in the back, and end in the front! Once the park opens, you will notice MANY people may make a beeline for the Raptor, and other closer rides. Some people DO go the back, but its nothing like how much people stay in the front of the park. I hope this really helps you in your stay in the park, and remember; Ride on, at the Rockin Roller Coast!! (:
Thank you so much for your reply!
Thanks for all these tips, they will really help me.
I will start in the back of the park to ride Millenium Force and Maverick. If Dragster is open I will head to it after these 2 coasters. I will definitely Ride MaXair and these other flat rides.
I heard stories from people who have been riding Corkscrew, and they say that it hurts so bad. Is it really that bad as everyone says? And ofcourse I will ride Blue Streak, I will try to ride every coaster at the park (except Woodstock and Jr.Gemini).
Oh and yeah, so you recommend to do Raptor after riding Dragster(if its open)? Or do you recommend to ride it just before we are leaving the park.
A huge thanks for all your help!
Corkscrew, I guess its kinda touch and go. When I rode it, it wasn't really that bad, but it depends on how much one person can take rough coasters. In a general sense, yes its a bit rough, but still worth a ride if you would like. And yes, I think you should try to hit Raptor after getting on Dragster if you are still in ERT, and also try to make it one of your last rides, its a great night ride with all its inversions! And try to ride Millennium Force once more at night to! Again, its just an awesome experience!! Hope you get to ride all these rides for yourself, because they are all world class! Good Luck!
I thought Dragster wasn't ERT?
So if it is not I will probably ride Raptor after Maverick.
I can also line up for Dragster allready, if it is actually opened. Just waiting for the Dragster to open.
I am wondering about how much time it will cost to buy some ride pictures? I probably want to have a ride picture of Millenium Force or Dragster (if it is opened). Dragster won't be a problem because I will probably ride it ater ERT.
If it takes a lot of time I will probably buy one the second time I ride MF (if it's not that crowded). I just do not want to lose much time on ERT with buying pictures.
On which side of the park the is the gift shop located? Is it close to the entry? So I can buy some gifts when I am leaving?
Thanks for all advice about these ride experiences!
They really help me out. Thanks for everything!
Pictures, I would say would run about 10-15 dollars, I can't really remember what it was originally. I would say millenniums for sure, and dragster too. I may be wrong this year, but the last time I went for ert dragster was included for it, but again it could have changed. If it isn't and the line isn't to crazy long, then go ahead and line up for it. If it is really long though, I would try to ride raptor. Also, I would wait until during the rest of the day to go and buy the pictures. And gift shops, you will have no problem finding them. They have a different shop in about every area of the park. I think the best ones you can find would be in the area called Frontier Town. That area is in the back of the park, by the Millennium Force and goes back to the Maverick. So gift shops are easy to find, you'll see em when you go by them. And can you tell me which day of the week it is you are going? If you can, I can tell you roughly what the crowd might be for that particular time. If its on the weekend, mostly on Friday and Saturday it can get a bit crowded and lines can get long. If its during the week, you should be fine on crowds. The last few times I've gone, the crowds had been awesome! I think I had waited the most for the dragster, and that was maybe only a 30 minute wait! I hope you have an awesome at Americas Roller Coast, I know I have in the past, and I will continue to even this summer! I myself cannot wait to get to the park! If you do have anymore questions, just ask, and I'll give you all I can to offer! Good luck!! :)
definitely go on Raptor around dinner time or as you are leaving the park to go back to the hotel. That is when the line is the shortest.
^Ditto, Raptor and Magnum both typically have really short or non-existent lines later in the evening close to closing time. There are gift shops all over the park, but the two largest ones are located on the main midway. One of those two is right inside the front gate.
And then one day you find ten years have got behind you
No one told you when to run, you missed the starting gun
