First Test Run

I'm suprised people are just now noticing Space Spiral's Cabin is at the bottom of he tower. That was the first thing I noticed when they "leaked" the "Vektron Cam". It's been interesting seeing what things others see and what things they don't. :)

They get it down using the manual switches in the control room. That's where the ride is turned on and off and where some spare parts are located. It's the same place you'd go to park the cabin at night, using the same controls.

I'm still watching that webcam patiently, hoping to eventually see the train in action. (whenever that will be)

Testing will be mid next week!

The Space Spiral is going up and down. I don't know about the train, but a bug died on the camera.;)
Wasn't testing supposed to begin Mid to late this week?

I had heard from a reliable source that Wicked Twister began test runs at minimal speeds this past Tuesday afternoon. Of course we couldn't see it on the webcam because the picture only refreshes once a minute.

Who said they haven't already fired it up?

Wicked Twister was lauched at 1/3 total speed on Tuesday and full power launching should begin next week.

That's what I've heard at least...

Well at least it's a start :) Gotta walk before you can run.

Wicked Twister testing this soon? I may have to go check it out.

It's really not that soon for it to be testing (at minimal speeds at least). I remember S:UE was doing low-speed launches by this time in 2000 and vertical construction didn't start on that ride until around New Years. Granted WT is a bit larger, but it really shouldn't take much longer to erect and get everything hooked up. My guess is that some of the extra time it has taken WT to get to this point comes in all the extra conduit and other protective materials CP chose to include that Six Flags didn't.

I guess when you really think about it WT has taken about the same amount of time as Superman to build. Considering it had to be built in sand close to the lake with occasional extreme weather conditions. Even though they only lost 11 days of work, I'm sure there were more days when that crew really wanted to quit because of the weather and probably ended up working a little slower on those days. I really have to give credit to the construction crew for their dedication and putting up with the weather, which is without a doubt a whole lot better than what the construction team for Millennium Force had to work in.

That’s a little harsh, ACEerCG. I believe that Cedar Fair and Six Flags take many of the same precautions when building their attractions, and in which none would slow the construction of WT. Sandusky isn’t as big of a town as where many of the Six Flags are located, making it harder to get a large work crew. Also, the weather has been on and off, and at sometimes unpredictable.

When are we going to see a test run? I have been watching the web cam all week, and have yet to see it. All I see is a crane doins work on one of the towers. I guess I am just geeked about seeing it run.
Now that the structure is complete, they need to move the webcam so we can get a view of the queue and the newly designed midway. I can't wait!!

I just looked at the cam, and space spiral was at the top of the tower.
