First memories of the Point

The first thing I can remember doing was riding White Water Landing and screaming my head off. I think I was six years old, and I was just tall enough to ride 48 inch rides. I saw White Water Landing, and I thought, "Wow Sir-Rub-a-Dub-Tubs for big kids." My aunt told me that it was a nice slow ride, and of course in my six year old mind I thought she was telling the truth. So I got I the ride. It started out nice and slow winding its way around the trees with the peaceful lapping of the brown water against our boat. Then we got to the lift hill. As my little heart's beating quickened, and my lip began to quiver I knew what was going to happen. When we reached the top of the hill I pleaded with the guy sitting up there to let me off. He just took a sip of his soda and ignored me.
My first memory of CP is walking in the gate and seeing Raptor. I had heard so much about it, people saying the I HAVE to go on it. I saw it at first and just stood there! I was just in shock! I couldn't believe that people would ride something with nothing under their feet! It got to about 1:30 or so and I had had enough of waiting to go on this thing. I knew nobody else would go on it with me so I told my family I was going. My mom didn't want me to go on it by myself so she went with me. She is not the type that would go on a coaster like that! We got on the ride and my mom was shaking her harness to make sure it was secure. By the time we got through the ride my mom was laughing really hard! We got off the ride and she wanted to go back and do it again! That is one of my favorites!

I just rememberd how I was in such awe as we drove down the causway. When we got there I ran to Magnum and was scared out of my mind.
My first year must have been '86, and then I faintly remember '87 and Iron Dragon.

One thing that stands out in my mind is Mean Streak's opening year. It was very hot when we were there, and this was before the blue canopies. They had these massive fans, which did very little to cool you off. Does anybody else remember those, or was it my imagination that they were actually that big?

My first memory was July of 1999. We pulled up into the Cedar Point parking lot and I was in awe. I finally saw the famous skyline I had heard about for so long!

We walked in through the front gate and I couldn't believe I was standing in Cedar Point. This was the park I had heard so, so, so much about.

That was one exhilarating day!

My first memory of the Po!nt was back in July of 1994. All my life I had been going to small traditional park Kennywood. Then when to CP in Raptor's first season, I was amazed at all the "high-tech" rollercoasters they had there. I then went back in '95. Took a year off and missed Mantis' opening season. (Went to WDW and SFGAdv)Then started a 3 year consectutive run back in '97. (Make that 4 years in a row for Y2K)CP is so great..

Hometown parks: Kennywood, Cedar Point!
1997 my first season. Of course I had never been on a roller coaster or to a world-class amusement park for that matter (WoF wasnt world-class when i was 8). I met my potential roommate in Human Resources, and then we net a guy directing traffic in the marina. He had us meet him at the Marina Gate after his shift and we did. We walked around the park. I remember walking around the park and the memory I have is nothing like how I see the park now. It was all like in a blur. He then took us on the Mine Ride and I was scared to death. Being the naive young Pointer that I was, I was talked into going on the Magnum next. Well I rode it, and it was well bad. I never looked out on the way up and my eyes were closed the entire way. Of course now Magnum is my fave coaster. I think that the most memorable thing about my first day of work was that I was looking for Stockade, and my roommate and I stopped Mr. Miears right in front of Stockade and asked him where it was. He said with a smile, it's right behind you, then drove off. Oh what a great year 1997. It just gets better of course as the years go on. Now as my CP career draws to an end, if I do go back next year it will DEFINITELY be my last season, I realize that through all the 80 hour weeks and sweltering room temperatures that working at CP has been a great experience in my life and it is definitely something that I would not want to give up on. I remember how I wanted to be a "lifer" and now I know that there is more to life than CP. While great and mighty, Cedar Point isn;t my life goal. It has been a GREAT ride, don;t get me wrong; but there comes a time when life has to go on, and after 2000 season, it will be that time for me. Of course trips to the Point are planned, but my career "On Top of the World" will be over. Lets hope I come back to CP for 2000, cuz hey gotta go out in style! Long live the Point and all the Point-Crazies!!! Especially those that reside here at "The Guide". Okay, I will shut up now.??????????????????????????????????????????????????? ???? ??? ????? ????? ????? ??????? ?????????????????????????????????????????????????????? ??? ???? ???? ??? ?????? ?? ?????????????? ?? ????????? ???
Well...we all know you should go back for at least one more year!
