Having a level Level 3 License, I don’t have to worry about times, but I usually leave an hour earlier than normal for pit stops and the occasional breakfast at McDonalds. This year I will be leaving way earlier than normal at around 5:45am each trip. On 2 occasions I will be leaving the earliest I ever have for anything! Opening day at 4:45am and 3:30am for Coastermania.
Josh, seeing that you live about 2 hours from the point, I would suggest leaving at about 6 or 6:30......given you feel committed enough to get up that early.:) Leaving then would put you at the point at around 8:30 9:00.....depending on traffic.

I'm so glad that I am old enough to get a hotel room for Coastermania. Leaving at 3:30 in the morning does not sound fun.

I find it funny but I think I'll see it being fun at the same time. It's the drive home that I'm worried about.:)
Heck I might just end up finding a room for the night if Im too tired to drive.....though I really should.

Oops, I guess I wasn't clear. I meant the time that you would leave from the park, to get home in time. That's my main concern. As for leaving in the morning... Heh :)

Ah, and to think... All I need is gdl class segment 1, my permit, gdl segment 2, and then i get my license in as little as 1yr, 3mos, and 20days.

Okay, I'm 14. But I'll be driving to the Point in what will have seemed like no time. I hope.

My friend just got his license and we are from Michigan, so we are kind of nervous if we drive alone. Who knows if we will.

So if I just got my liscense on ST Patty's day(March 17), when should I ask my mom or dad if I can go? I'm only going to bring one person anyways for more rides and stuff? I can't go in May. Maybe June, Possibly July or August.

Ask whenever you feel like it. That decision is soley up to you.

I suggest asking in November. Scientific studies show that kids asking their parents questions in November are more likely to get a positive response.

Like everyone said before, make sure you watch your speed. If you don't live in Ohio and you get pulled over I'm pretty sure they make you pay the ticket on the spot. Atleast thats what I've heard.

No one plays favorites. If you're speeding, you'll get a ticket regardless of whether you live in Ohio or are from another state. And you don't pay the fine on the spot.

Yeah, Ohio isn't freakin' Mexico.

Sheesh, some people will believe anything.

Ride on, MrScott!

Pay a speeding ticket on the spot? Wow, that's a new one. LOL!!

Well, we need cars up here. We can't walk from one end of the "island" to the other in 20 minutes while keeping the sandy beaches and rolling wav....ahh forget it. Its impossible to insult the guy who lives in the tropics.

I've heard that too that you have to pay speeding tickets on the spot if you get a jerky state trooper. I was caught by a Michigan state trooper on 75 last September on the way home from Ohio after seeing Journey and Def Leppard for going 87 in a 70. He was very nice and I thought he was almost going to let me off but he didn't. I think it was about a $150 tickets. The trooper told me that it wouldn't go on my record because I was Canadian, however about 3 weeks later I got a letter from the Ontario Ministry of Transportation letting me know that they had been notified of an out-of-province offense. I lost 2 demerit points.

Just as a warning to everyone traveling on 275/75 on their way to CP, if you dont already know, be careful of your speed. If I remember hearing right, you can now get ticketed for going more than 5mph over. Police are suppose to pull people over every so often and they're going to go after people going 5mph over which shouldn't be hard since mostly everyone goes 5 over anyway.:)

Ok, old topic, I know. My parents didn't let me drive to CP. I never really asked because I know they would say no because I hardly ever drove on the freeway until the fall(golf, drove on the highway at least once a week). I haven't been pulled over or gottten in any accidents. *crosses fingers*. Clean record still.

I might ask eventually before June. I get out a week and a half earlier this year, still not a senior though, (junior). I'm thinking June 1st or 2nd.
I'm a good driver, but I do speed in some areas. Just the route from school and back. I konw there are never cops there so yeah. Directions aren't a problem. I'll jsut leave about an hour and a half early instead of an hour just in case. I'll have a friend read directions off.
How much money should I bring down if I don't have a season pass?
If I'm doing 2 trips, should I get a season pass or parking pass?

There was a horrible accident last year involving teens driving back to Columbus from CP. The accident occured on Rte 4. Apparently the 16 year old driver fell asleep and ran off the road. He got killed but his passengers all survived.

Despite your age, you never really know how tired you really are until you sit down for a while on the drive home. While the drive there will be pumped with excitement, the drive home will be the exact opposite. It is really tough when you have a long drive (like I do) and everyone else in the car is sound asleep.

PB-Reader: I think that law they passed in Ohio is very smart. Now if we could just keep them youngins OFF their cell phones we'd have it made! :)

It's all about getting around the barrels, or over the fences, right leads, no faults, fastest time and looking pretty when done. What's so hard about that?

I never use my phone while driving. I know I drive bad with it when I use it. I'll make sure to bring a lot of coke and stuff. How much do I bring for tickets, food, and other thigns?

I agree. You can get really tired on the drive home.
Especially, after 21 hours of CP (coastermania). You have
to make sure you are awake enough to make the drive home.
Get a hotel, pull off the side of the road or drink a lot of
caffeine.

As for kids driving and talking on cell phones at
the time, Ohio should make a law such as New York where
you cannot talk on the phone the same time as driving
unless you have a wireless device. Great Idea!!!
