I apologize about the length, but hey, it's my last trip report for 7 months.
So the trip today was a bus trip, a woman advertises it in the newspaper and last year I saw it for the first time, so I went again with 3 friends. We left at about 9 and arrived to the park right around 12. All week the weather forecasts were saying rain all day long, but I am happy to say there was no rain at all.
First we hopped on Sky Ride and then got into line for Millennium Force. The sign said 1 hour, but it ended up being about 45 minutes for the yellow train. Next we headed across the midway to Mantis and waited no more than 20 minutes and had a bit of a painful ride because my ears were cold so when they hit the head rests the stung, but a fun ride, nonetheless.
Next we completed what I like to call the ‘Frontier Circuit’. We headed up the Frontier Trail to WWL for one last ride. My only time riding it before that was May 2004 and I didn’t remember it at all. It was a good ride and I really wish they weren’t taking it out because it’s fun, but it really is old looking. Next was Mean Streak. We rode the gold train in the middle and it was a bit bumpy but decently fun, I will always love Mean Streak no matter what any of you say. After that was Gemini. We raced in the back seats, and I was in the red train, and we lost…badly. Magnum was next on our list and it actually had a line, again the first time I've seen a line for it this year, about 30 minutes. Fortunately there was a ride up at the top of the stairs controlling the amount of people into the station. Again, the line for the front blocked the ‘ejector seat’ so my friend and I rode in that, with our other friends behind us. Three words… mad air time. I tightened my seat belt very tight and left the lap bar a bit of space and I was popping out of my seat so much, perhaps one of my bests rides on it ever. We went of Corkscrew next and it had about a 15 minute wait and was stacking like crazy. I hate the seat belts now more than ever. As I got into the train my leg hit the seat belt buckle part mounted on the seat and scraped my leg and now it is a big swollen red lump. The whole ride up the lift hill consisted of me cursing that seatbelt. All injuries aside, I think it was the best ride on Corkscrew. The hill before the loop gave me so much airtime my whole body was in the air and it was awesome.
We walked by Power Tower and were going to ride it but decided against it and said we would wait until later, so we headed to Wicked Twister. The line for Wicked Twister took about 15 minutes and was an excellent ride, as usual. When we got off I talked everyone into going on Giant Wheel, it was my first time. I enjoyed it, it had some really great views. We went over to Raptor and saw that the line was well over an hour so we all decided that we would sacrifice it because we had lots of other things we still wanted to do. One of my friends didn’t like Demon Drop so we didn’t go on it either, which was ok because I had my final ride on it in September. Since we were at the front of the park we decided to hit up Blue Streak and it had a very short line so we were happy. Next we headed to Cedar Downs, another first for me. That thing was a lot better than I thought it would be. As we were getting off we saw the Midway Monsters dancing across the midway so we stopped for a bit and watched.
After a nice break we headed back to Power Tower and the line was about the same as it was before so we got in line. We did the Turbo Drop side, the only way to go, IMO. After a nice ride on Power Tower it was time to eat. We walked over to Coasters only to find it packed (since it was 6:30) but we ordered and decided to eat outside and enjoy the sunset. After a nice relaxing meal we got in line for Millennium again. The sign said one and a half hours, and it was exactly a one and one half hour wait. Now, this was my first Millennium ride at night and it left me speechless. It was well worth the wait, in the third row of seats. All of my friends complained that the line was long but I talked them into it and they were all happy I did, so I got to say, "I told you so."
We got off Millennium around 8:30 and had an hour and a half left, since the bus was leaving at 10. We were all very excited to walk through Fright Zone since none of us had before. I tell you, I was so thrilled. Fright Zone overcame all of my expectations. I've heard some people say that there was too much fog, but I loved all of it because it created the suspense of not knowing what would be in the fog. The Screamsters did a great job at scaring everyone. When we got through the Zone we were a bit surprised to see the insane lines for Werewolf Canyon and Undertaker U so unfortunately, we had to skip them. As we walked through Frontier Town we saw that CCMR was deserted to we hopped on. I think the dark makes any ride better. I took a look at all of that PVC piping and I can't believe how much of it there is.
After we got off it was about 9 so we had to haul some major @ss. We walked faster than any of us had ever walked before. It was a few minutes after 9 and we got in line for Wildcat. We got in a quick ride and headed over to Carnevil. I was surprised to see the giraffe back… all demonized. Carnevil was pretty good, but not as good as Fright Zone. IMO there weren’t enough Screamsters. When we got through we got in line for Chaos as they were unloading, and as we stood there it went down for mechanical reasons. We were all really disappointed, but we headed to Troika instead. That was our last ride of the night then we had to haul more @ss to get to the bus.
Highlights: decently length lines, Millennium Force at night, Fright Zone, getting on 3 new rides that I haven't been on before (Cedar Downs, Giant Wheel, Troika), and finding out I can handle spinny rides
Lowlights: Carnevil, huge haunted house lines, Dragster, maXair, and Chaos being down, having to leave at 10.
Farewell Cedar Point, I'll be back in 7 months.
We'll miss you MrScott and Pete
I noticed last year that the HH lines are a bit shorter during the day (especially just after opening). We ended up skipping UU as well last year, and I think we are going to try and hit it earlier in the day or on Friday this year.
Goodbye MrScott
John
