Few Questions

Hi all! I'll be coming to Cp to work at the end of this month. This is my first time ever even going there. I'm totally excited but nervous. I'll be working in the restroom cleaning hehe anyone else do this? I was wondering if anyone needs a roomate? I don't know anyone and would like to know some people before I arrive. I'm a 20 yr old female. Also is there anything specific I should bring? Thanks for any help.
Basically bring a few sets of clothes and sunblock, and a bathing suit or something. You can brings towels or a blanket or you sign out some from housing. Meet lots of people so you can have some people to hang out with. More people can give you some information. That's about all I can think of. If you wanna chat sometime my Aol IM name is: Flisk2000.

If you go to college, bring the same stuff. All the comforts of home your gonna be there for a long time. You don't need a roll of quarters the nice ladies at the desk will give you change. Bring bar clothes cause everyone likes it when girls dress up ;)
Everyone likes it when the guys dress up, too!! ^_~

But PLEASE for the love of God and your fellow human, LEAVE your glitter at home.

Thanks for the advice! I can't wait until the 28th and I arrive. Still debating on what type of housing to try for. Not sure about living with a bunch of people guess just nervous. The air conditioned dorms are sounding pretty good though. Got another question I'm not bringing my car but I read they have bus shuttle to town and all. Is that good?
Bring your car! If you wanna go to meijer, the mall, or some place GOOD to eat. They do have a bus that goes out there but about every 2 hours or so.

The shuttle went to the mall like 3 times a day, so it isnt really all that convienent. It did go downtown every hour....A car would be better, but not really a requirement.

Hey Desi :) I worked in Restrooms last year so if you have any questions about it at all, I can help you out. This year I'm going to be a Sweep - which Area are you going to be in?

I liked working in Restrooms because you are on your own the whole time, you go at your own pace, you get to walk around all the time rather than being stuck in one place (which sometimes can be more of a curse than a blessing!) Make sure you have good shoes and that they're broken in.

At the very beginning of the season doing the restrooms is NICE because there are not that many people there so there is not that much cleaning to do, last year in early May I was actually getting bored to death and wishing the bathrooms would get messier. But once the season moves on a little and especially on Saturdays, it picks up a lot and the bathrooms get packed.

Last year things were kind of crazy because the majority of the restroom employees never showed up! Hopefully this year the crew will be bigger, that would be a big help. Also if they need extra restroom employees they have some of the Sweeps move to restrooms.

It's a lot of fun up at Cedar Point, I can promise you will have the best summer of your life, but I have to warn you that it is going to be really hard work! You'll probably be working real long hours at first, but at least you'll be able to get a lot of money. The best tips than I can give are to not slack off (well I know that seems kind of obvious). But it's real easy in Restrooms to "power break" since you're on your own and no one knows exactly where you are at all times (although it seemed like the sups were always on to people). If you do that though, then the restrooms will get so bad and you'll just fall way behind. I saw some people who hardly set foot in a restroom and then wondered how they got so messy. Also try to know all that you can about the park - of course I know it will take awhile since you've never been up there, but you'll have a few days before the park opens to get acquianted, pretty soon you'll know it like the back of your hand. Also read everything you can on CP's website if you get time. It's just important to know where everything is, and what all the shops and food stands have to offer, since you'll be around guests all the time, they'll have a lot of questions. Also there are those "serious but stupid" questions that people ask and you have to pretend they are the smartest things anyone has ever asked, like "When is it going to stop raining?" "Is that Ohio time?" The ever-popular "What does the ten o'clock laser show start?" and "Don't you hate your job? Are you doing this because you're being punished?" A lot of people acted as though cleaning the restrooms is some kind of inhumane job, but what if no one did it? A lot of people's fun day at the park would lose it's appeal quickly if they walked into a bathroom and they were ankle deep in water from overflowing toilets and sinks (incredibly, even though you have to twist the handle on the faucet to turn it on, about 40% of people who use the bathroom assume that the water is going to shut off automatically, so everytime you walk into a bathroom, rest assured at least one faucet will be running while people stand around and insist that it's "broke." -Though as a side note, I think there are two bathrooms in Area One that are automatic, the rest are not.) Plus, all of my roommates thought I was nuts and had no problems with saying how they'd rather pound a nail in their forehead than have my job, although I felt the exact same way about working in games, but I was polite enough not to say so. So you'll probably get some flak from people, but don't let it get to you, because restrooms is very important. Okay, end rant :)

So no matter how tough it gets, stick with the job because working there is such a great experience, it's worth the hardships. Plus you'll probably get sucked into the Cedar Point Force Feild; even though I quit last year and swore I would have nothing do to with the place ever again, I was unable to stop missing the place and now I'm counting the hours til I go back...

I'd love to be your roommate if you need one, I'm 19 and I'll be coming up on May 3rd...I don't know if you can reserve a place for someone that long, but I was hoping to get into the Commons Dorms too.

As for what to bring, make a list of all the things you think you'll need or want to have over the summer. (Although they DO have stores around) If you want to live in the dorms, bring a lock for your locker, bring an alarm clock and a watch, some towels, washcloth, soap etc. Bring a book or magazine for those free 20 seconds you'll get during the day ;) Also laundry detergent and quarters for the machines. Plus sheets, blankets, pillow, (I think CP provides some of this but it's nicer and more comfortable if you bring the ones you have at home). Just the stuff you know you require to live life. As for the shuttle, well they do have one but it's not the most convienient thing, you'd save a lot of time if you brought your car, but it is not absolutely necesssary.

I know I've gone on and on! I've just never met another restrooms worker on here before so I am eager to impart all of my wisdom. If you have any more questions you can e-mail me at GypsyHippi@aol.com or else ask on here. I'll see you up there!
