Hmmmm...2 coasters next year...;) One family friendly coaster and an extreme coaster....just another thing to sit back and watch to see how it all plays out! With all the stuff going on this offseason, I can't wait to see what the next offseason brings!

Since Celebration Plaza was announced, I have found myself looking at this image a few times. I thought this was the final year anyway. I'm only surprised by the timing.
I think if I would have known it was going away last year, I'd feel differently, but this kind of sucks. It's one of the rides I couldn't wait to take my son on once he was tall enough.

I knew I should have bet money on Mean Streak and Disaster Transport not being the first to go...;)

^I couldn't agree with you more Jeff. The timing is what I don't like. If I would've known so I could get my last rides in, I wouldn't be upset about it. It's a business afterall. It's just the timing for me....I (as well as many of you) figured it would be gone in the next few seasons anyway.
In other news, can we all laugh at all the comments on Facebook? haha. Its the new "VP from Disneylands" fault :p

^ I'm sure they will place him at a different ride. Have him call Park Operation and get ahold of his manager. He might even get to pick what ride he wants to go to.

I do the same thing! Imagine the dorms gone and the road moved, and a midway that connects the Blue Streak Plaza and Celebration Plaza.
If you would have asked me to list the rides I would not see at Cedar Point in 10 years, Wildcat is at the top of that list, but yes, there is no doubt the timing of this is the worst part.
This expansion is one of several initiatives that will beautify the park midways...
This I must agree with. I know, it is what it is, but Wildcat always seemed out of place at Cedar Point to me. In a "State Fair" type midway like at Dollywood, it would fit perfectly, or in a small collection of some "classic rides".
I can't say I will truly miss the ride itself, but like Jeff it was certainly on the list of "cant wait to take my daughter on" rides in the next couple years.
However, I am confident that in the next few years there will be more to to with my daughters than there currently is at Cedar Point, so that's why this does not sting so bad for me.

I'm mostly disappointed they didn't plant this from the beginning, as it probably would have altered their plans for the area.
Brandon
But it did say it "accelerated" their plans...which seems to indicate that there is an idea out there, at least in principle.

^^Exactly. The new stage could be sitting where Wildcat is at now, which is where I think it should have gone to begin with. Now that area really does have an empty hole in the midway because I don't see them having time to do much with that plot of land before the park opens.
It wouldn't surprise me removing the ride was always in the plans, just not for this year.

Looking at the pic... So, what's in the old IMAX theater these days?
It is an ice theater now that houses an ice show themed around Peanuts Characters.
Walt I am the same way, I think alot of factors played into it being removed now instead of a year or two down the road. It has been the site of two (if I remember correctly) fairly serious mechanical failures reciently, and I would honestly not be surprised if something happened during testing this year that caused management to throw in the towel on it. It was a neat little ride, glad that I had a chance to ride it, but not too sad to see it go as I have passed it up for the last couple of years. (That might be because I had to sit diagonally in the front seat to fit in it! :P)

^ I was thinking the same thing, Fanatic. For all we know, a car may have rolled down the lift-hill again during testing.
