Famous Dave's BBQ

The Boathouse wasn't exactly "old" Cedar Point. It's only been around since 1993.

Before the Boathouse, the restaurant was the Marina Steak House for more than 20 years.

I'd rather be in my boat with a drink on the rocks,
than in the drink with a boat on the rocks.

I'm not sure if it was the name, but for the numerous times my wife and I have been to CP, we never went to the Boathouse, even when we were guests at the marina. It never seemed to appeal to us, and we cannot put our finger on it as to why. Whenever we wanted a place for a sit-down type of meal the Boathouse was never mentioned.

Now that there has been so much talk of Famous Dave's, we almost feel that we are obligated just to check it out.

With the recent trend of CP having franchises (TGI Fridays, Johnny Rockets, Famous Dave's etc..) I wonder if all the restauraunts on the park property will soon be a franchise with a well known name to attract those who hungry.

Of course there's talk about Famous Dave's - it's famous!

Lessee. What can I come up with from the top of my head?

Famous Dave is Some Guy named Dave in Minnesota who co-founded a casino on a reservation and then spent his filthy-rich spare time hopping around America learning how to cook BBQ.

Then he got an IPO in tech-mad stock days and went hog-wild expanding the chain..till the economy went sour.

I'm almost sure George Bush appointed him to head the Bureau of Indian Affairs now.

Anyway...the Music Club award has nothing to do with CP's Famous Daves. There are only a few locations that have live entertainment. I'm sure Calhoun Square does (in uptown Minneapolis) but I'm not sure about anywhere else. At one time, a Chicago location may have, but who knows if it's open these days?
