Famous Dave's BBQ

With the Boathouse turning into Famous Dave's, I was looking at the Famous Dave's web site and found an interesting award:

"Best of 1999- Music Club" Nightclub & Bar Magazine

I'm not familiar with the restaurant, does anyone know if Dave's BBQs feature entertainment, and are we finally getting a nightclub for some after hours adult fun?

I'd rather be in my boat with a drink on the rocks,
than in the drink with a boat on the rocks.

We have a Famous Daves about 10 mins from my house.....its a family resturant. Sit down type thing, no entertainment where mine is.

There's nothing too special about Famous Dave's. I know the cooks start to sing every hour or so. On each table they have a seletion of 5 BBQ sauces. There's spicy, sweet, mild, and hot. It'll be a very nice addition to the World's Best Amusement Park.

Please tell me that they don't sing YMCA, or for that matter ANY JR music.

Yeah, I'm not sure about another restaurant with singing servers.

But Famous Dave's sounds awesome. Looking forward to the fine addition to the Point. Boathouse struggled, IMO, with their menu. I think this helps a lot.

I wasn't naming the five sauces because I don't know the names of them. I was just giving you an idea. The sauces have some odd names.

Boathouse struggled

Perhaps, but I shall miss the sweet potato fries.

What are you guys talking about? I LOVE Famous Dave's! I ate there when I was visiting my cousin in Virginia, it was delish! I love eating a meal that requires at least ten wet naps afterwards! PS, where did you find out that they were changing it to Famous Daves?

Hmmm....it must be like a cross between Tony Roma's and Buffalo Wild Wings (with the assortment of sauces and such...) That should be interesting. I'll have to check it out. Too bad employees don't get discounts at the sit-down restaurants; that would be such a nice perk.

Never heard of Famous Dave's let alone eatin' there. Anyone who has been to a Famous Dave's how does it compare with Tony Roma's? Prices?

Mmmmmm I love Tony Roma's so if it's anything like that, I will be tres excited.

Famous Dave's is one of my families favorite restaurants. We loved the Boathouse, but Dave's is even better. We were thrilled when they opened one in Mishawaka, IN.

They have great ribs with lots of other southern style food and sandwiches. The five sauces are Rich and Sassy, Devil's Spit, Texas Pit, Georgia Mustard, and Sweet and Zesty. Their creamy chicken and wild rice soup is terrific and the deserts are out of this world. My favorite is the bread pudding. I hope Dave's adds sweet potato fries to their menu. That was a great Boathouse treat.

There used to be a Dave's BBQ and Blues in Downtown Chicago. It would be great if they had Live E here at the Point.

Tony Romas is a nicer setting. Famous Daves has a rustic laid back feel. But, in my opinion, the food is just as good, if not better. As far as prices go, they range a lot. I often get the rib tips platter for about 8.50 (probably will be like 12 bucks at a park, lol). That platter is way too much food for me. I think most couples could split most of their platters. They also have a basket option which has all the meat and less sides for less money. Still enough for a meal, I think. It should be a very nice addition to CP. I have a takeout menue somewhere if you have any specific questions.

No, I only just discovered the wonderful sweet potato fries last season. It was going to be a new tradition to get those on every trip to the point. But hopefully they will keep them......I'm hoping. They were very good. On another note I am looking for a change, other than the fries the boathouse never appealed to me as a visitor. Even though the docks area looks really nice!

Maybe they should get rid if the garlic fries at the Happy Friar and add the sweet potatoe fries in its place. Im sure it would be a better seller. The name alone is more inviting than garlic fries.
You know, I never ate at the Boathouse, but now I wish I had. I'm a BIG fan of good sweet potato fries. Hopefully they'll turn up somewhere else in the park -- I never knew I even had that choice.

(The sweet potato fries at the Thirsty Pony, down at the end of the Causeway, are decent but not great.)

Kinda sad............soon there will no longer be any signs of the old cedarpoint left.

Dont get me wrong, I think its great that we are getting a new resterant, but I do miss the feel of some of the old cp.
