That is completely untrue. You use your ID to get into the park. The end. Ride to your little heart's content. Or until the park closes for the night. Once you enter the park, you're in the park, and you're allowed to go in and out as often as you'd like.

shorty40- be prepared because you will hear a lot of lies, myths, and urban legends about Cedar Point.

When in doubt, feel free to post your questions or concerns on Pointbuzz and someone will be able to answer your questions honestly.

Do NOT rely on what you hear in common conversation because more often than not,..it will be false information.

I worked at the park in various job positions from 'grunt work' to an office position for four years extending beyond the actual "Summer" season, and some of the stories I heard (and continue to hear 14 years later) are just ignorant.

Someone here at Pointbuzz is always willing to help you! Good luck and enjoy your Summer!

thanks

Just consider yourself a guest when your in the park...use your badge to get yourself into the park then put it away and have fun. Your ID will not get you to front of lines or discounts anywhere so do not try that. Also employees do not get free or discounted food, even if you work at that stand...I have seen many employees be fired for that reason.

Here's a nice little hint, though: You can still eat at the Employee Cafeteria when you're not working, which is less expensive than eating at one of the stands or restaurants in the park. While you can't get funnel cakes or any other "novel" treat in there, they have quite a selection for a nice, well-rounded meal without spending more than $5 or $6. Make sure to keep your ID handy, though, as they might ask to see it if you're out of uniform. I've never had this happen yet, but that's the policy.

So there is NO discount for ANYTHING? Usually employees can get a discount on something. I don't know Ohio laws at all (from Michigan) but they should atleast get to ride the rides at Challenge Park for free.

I'm not sure why a law would dictate what amusement park benefits or perks that an employee can get. Anyway, I think we get like 10% off the Pagoda shop or something.

If I remember correctly you are not allowed to play any of the games either. When walking by all the games near Johnny Rockets they would all be shouting at me to play the games and I would flash my ID and they would all quit...I thought it was funny.

There is (or at least was) one day a week you could get a discount on merchandise at Pagoda. There is no discount for Challenge Park, although I believe you can opt to get a Challenge Park package in lieu of the 4 free park tickets you get after 28 days of work.

^^ I believe that we're not allowed to play the games either. Now, I know that ESD hosts a game night occasionally, where we ARE allowed to play all we want, for special prizes (tshirts, food coupons, etc). Check the bulletin boards posted throughout the employee areas, or find a copy of... the employee magazine, whose name escapes me right now.
