I used to run the Breakwater Cafe for 4 years a very long time ago...

Anyway, looking to see if anyone has a picture of the waterspout tornados that hit the park about 7 years ago... I think there's a picture on the wall of Food Services... or maybe it was at the processing in station.. not sure... but I would love a copy of that pic if anyone has one... It shows the tornado behind a roller coaster.

Thanks!.. and PS.. if anyone in food services is still there.. say hi to them for me!!! Steven Chalk... Mark Pappas.. or Bob Gorton...

Thanks guys.. I hope to get some pictures.. and have fun at the point this year... God knows I miss it.....:(

wow! I was there that day. I believe I was around 8 so I didn't have a good understanding of what was happening, but it was an absolutely crazy day from what I remember.

Praying for a rollback...

I remember about 8 to 10 years ago there was a waterspout on the otherside of the island over by BS. That was kinda freaky but cool to see.

Because it wasn't a tornado, but a Waterspout. We went over this before in http://www.pointbuzz.com/cpplace.aspx?mode=thread&TopicID=19033

I was there as a guest that day, and if I'm not mistaken there were TWO waterspouts on the peninsula that day...I will never forget that day. It was nice out, and then all of a sudden the sky turned black as charcoal and all heck broke loose. I was separated from my group but we eventually reunited, got in the car, and got the heck out of there.

HOLY CRAP!!!!!!! CURTIS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I was standing right next to you looking at them! Remember that Polish guy, Otto, ran right outside onto the docks to get up close pictures of them?

I might be able to either find some pictures for you, because I think I might have some back at my mom's house. Anyway, Steve Chalk is gone, but I think is still in Sandusky, Bob Gorton retired, and last I heard, Mark Pappas was managing the Panera Bread that they biult down by the Sandusky Mall.

I'm actually not 100% sure that was a waterspout. If I remember correctly, that is the same day the Nuclear Plant (Davis-Besse) was hit by an F2 tornado.

I have a news clip from that day somewhere. I know I've uploaded it before....

As I recall, it was a tornadic waterspout (as opposed to the fair weather waterspouts common in the fall).

Very interesting video!

Two things to note:

1.) "The park made an announcement, and is now considering putting up sirens..." -- The park doesn't have a PA system as far as I know, and still doesn't have sirens...

2.) "A passerby helped release the restraints" -- How does that work? Does Power Tower even have restraints that can be released from outside of the control booth... I smell fishy reporting...

1 - Probably not :)
2 - I don't think so - Has to be done from Controls

Maybe the restraints were released, but they couldn't get the belt undone.
