Ever come across an employee who makes it known they don't like their job? What did they do or say that made you think this?

I have worked with a few people like that. Unfortunately they are virtually impossible to get rid of unless they quit. It takes multiple documented incidents before someone can actually be terminated. The exceptions are theft and sometimes harassment, but attitude, backtalking, etc. take multiple incidents.

Shhhh, nobody's supposed to know about that.
But yah, for whatever reason it's nearly impossible to get rid of the ones who clearly don't want to be there. Yet the people who really enjoy the job seem to be canned for the smallest mistakes.

No one told you when to run, you missed the starting gun
Oh yeah, I heard a lot of complaining, as a TL I had to deal with plenty of dissatisfied people. Either they didn't get the hours they wanted, or the day off they needed, or the task I gave them was too much. All I ever could say was, well if you're not happy you don't have to stay, I'm sure we can get someone else who wants to work, and you can go home. That usually ended that, and they did what was expected.

Weren't merchandise people getting 3 days off a week over the summer? How on earth would anyone not be able to get the day off that they wanted with 3 days off per week?

One sad commentary I can add is that in my interactions with folks (especially those working in food service/merch) generally are indifferent until you mention that you were a previous employee. Although it may not be "politically correct"(as I am a guest when the question/conversation is posed) they generally open up about how things are still bad etc... none say to me "boy my summer has been fun and great here".
Everyone likes the friendship and comradery ( I certainly miss it) but not one stated anything pleasing about the job itself.
No merchandise people weren't always getting 3 days a week off. Twards the end of the season, (sometimes) red tags would get 2 days a week off, and green tags would have 3 days off. This wasn't the case the whole season, and it only occured for a few weeks like I said twards the end of the season.

I was only good friends with 3 merch people, and they all complained the whole season about being made to take 3 days off a week because there were "way too many Asians" and the department was way overstaffed.

It depended on the location they were in, whether or not they had all the hours they wanted. I didn't run into that in my location. For the most part hours were available as far as I know.

^Are you Asian? Sorry couldn't resist :-)
Weird, I knew a few people that worked at Snoopy Boutique and for a good chunk of the summer they had 2 days off a week and for a little while they were even getting 3. They were only averaging 33 hours per week most of the summer. I remember hearing them complain about not getting days off they wanted, even after their managers approved them. The management in merchandise always sounded AWESOME to me.

Um I did scheduling for the front of merch towards the middle/end of season and yes we had to schedule them two to three days off but it only happened during the month of July to maybe mid August when we have the most people...many more people stayed then they had planned so we had more people by that time then we planned. AND WE gave almost alllllll days off BECAUSE we had so many people....maybe they had issues with their job, maybe they didn't ask in far enough in advance and sometimes managers forgot the days off...but as long as it was on record and they talked with their manager about it it would be fine...Pagoda had 55 people alone plus about 450 more people in merch dept at max capacity...occasionally things get mixed up. Talk to your manager and it can get resolved.
I'm not saying that the job is always the funnest in the world...because it is tiring and it becomes stressful I guess is the word...but most get past it and enjoy it again. Even the people I knew who complained enjoyed it later in the season again when they were getting their hours back. You might have know two to three merch people...I know...um lol a lot more...so let it drop and move on to something else

I know of one occasion. I was working at Conneaut Lake Park it was the last saturday for the season. We had one employee who wanted to operate the Blue Streak. We had to put him on the Witches Stew ride and he was mad. So in retaliation he took the break off started the ride for the test run and turned the break BACK ON and the ride came around and smashed the break. It went flying off into the employee parking lot. Just missing our Head Mechanics windshield. Needlass to say all of us were POed.
