The weather was so nice on Wednesday (7/11), I decided to leave work early and head to the Point. I pulled up the parking lot and almost turned around – the lot was packed! Who said Wednesdays aren’t busy? The line for the Raptor was over 45 minutes and MF, 1 ½ hours. Walked back the Mean Streak and it had a 45-minute wait. So I went to the Gemini and sure enough it was a walk on. You can always count on old reliable Gemini for a quick ride. I got on the train, the train was dispatched, and I realized that no one had checked my lap bar or seat belt! In fact the whole front half of the train was not checked. I was so amazed because this is the first time I can remember this happening at CP. The Gemini crew was doing a great job racing the trains, considering the left side lift was running about twice as fast as the right.
The crowd did eventually thin out a little and the lines for Magnum and Raptor where under 30 minutes. Got a couple of excellent night rides on both. Rode the corkscrew at night, which I hadn’t done in years. The sunset was awesome.
For the first time in at least 5 years, I rode the paddleboat. I was glad to see the corny jokes and props haven’t changed. But this ride has lost something in my opinion. With all the machinery around you, the ride feels like a trip through the flats rather then a secluded riverboat cruise. The ride was also much shorter then I remembered.
The best part of the day was listening to some guy in line try to convince his girl friend that Magnum is as good a ride as MF. She kept saying, “But it’s much shorter and 30 MPH slower. It can’t be as good as MF”.
Even though the lines where a little longer then I expected, it was still a good evening at CP.

It only got packed later in the day on Wednesday, I got at least 4 laps on Magnum in under an hour mid-day that day.
