Ethernet?

What's the story on the internet connection in the dorms there? Is it just a standard ethernet connection?
There is no internet in the dorms. You can bring a computer and dial-up using AOL or another service, but you will find it hard to get a line out, it will go slow, or both. The rec center has about 6 computers for use, but they go way to fast and are almost always being used. I guess the easiest thing to do (if you can) is just cut down your use during your contract and live with it. That's what I learned to do last year.

Yeah i thought i would die without internet last year, but the fact is I barely spent any time in my room. Eventually I just didn't care at all.

Bring your comp and just use dial-up. There's some ISP who left brochures last year and I just paid them like 40 bucks flat for internet access just for the 3 months I was down there. Really all you'll probably want to do is check EMail or IM someone anyhow.

Orrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr you might have a 3G enabled CDMA cell phone, in which case you could set your plan up to include data. This is actually about 2 or 3 times faster than dial-up.

The first option is generally much easier.

Thanks for the speedy responses.

No internet seems tough, but I'm working at Cedar Point for crying out loud I'm sure I can keep plenty busy. :)

I'm probably buying a PCS Vision phone in the next month or so, I hadn't even thought about that. I imagine that will come in handy.

computer is such a winter thing. enjoy the sun :)

We did not have puters in 1980. Although the drug/alcohol policy was a tad more liberal he he...I guess its all a matter of perspective as there is more to life at CP than the internet. I mean for the sake of all thats holy you have the biggest playground for college age kids in the entire US!

Meeting others for fun was like shooting fish in a barrel!I did go abit overboard in a few respects but who cares 23 yrs later?

So leave the friggin computer at home, bring some beer mugs, a swimsuit and a small cooler for the beach! And have the time of your life! I sure did!

Well, I've got a degree in Computer Science along with Business so it's good to stay on top of things, but mainly I use it just for random IMs and emails and stuff like that. You won't catch me spending more than a half hour or so on it a day.

I couldn't live without my computer. I'm living off of Monroe, a few blocks after it switches from First St. I live close, have plenty of room, AND have DSL. If you're desperate, I think my 802.11b goes out to the curb or so LOL but it's secure. I have an evil neighbor and I don't know how smart he is.
