Interesting... I wonder what the Dodgem building will be used for....

I was secretly hoping that the Pirate Ride would be revived in someway with a new dark ride/shooting game... Similar to Gobbler Getaway at HW or Den of Lost Thieves at IB... I love the competitive nature of those rides, and some of them are actually quite fun!

^ - isn't that what used to be in Dodge 'ems?

Please don't get rid of Dodge 'ems. I can kinda see having an amusement park without a flume, but you can't remove the flume AND dodge 'ems and still think you're an amusement park.

Maybe that's why they're moving the haunted house, so Dodgems can continue to operate through Halloweekends.

I got two rides for the ert. On the second was when it broke down then they opened the ride and rode an then broke down again.

2007 trips=39..08 trips=47..09 trips=79
maverick rides=143
dragster rollbacks=27

We were there on the 16th and 17th. On the 16th we had starlight passes and walked on to all the rollercoasters except maverick. Maverick was only a 30 minute wait. Monday nights must be dead at the point or we were extremely lucky. Highlights of our trip were, maverick 10 times ( it was great last ride of the night in the dark), walk on of the magunum , raptor, and top thrill;and finally One of the getaway timeshare people getting painted by a passing seagull. It was priceless. Lows of the trip, $9 for maverick burger, seeing how nasty the buildings and rides look painted by seagulls, Disaster Transport(anyone notice they are taking props and effects out of there?), and there was this one annoying guy that was badgering the paddle boat gal to the point we told him to sit down and shut it. He was in her face thinking he knew what was gonna happen with hallow weekends, new rides, and the big dipper from GL. He was totally in the face of the ride op, she was backing down and you could see fear in her eyes.He seemed to be angry that she didn't have an in with CEO about what was gonna be new for 09. Later in the night we saw him being scolded by CP police. RIGHT ON. Oh and one last thing, why did someone have to go and ruin the banners for the Gemini? They could have just signed it intsead scribbling peoples names, making lewd references ect ect.

Does anyone have a picture of the Gemini banners? I doubt they will still be up in August when I go.

They were supposed to be placed in the Town Hall Museum near Skyhawk, but with how some of them were defaced, I don't know if that will happen anymore.

That sucks. Stupid arrogant people have to ruin it for the rest of us.

They weren't Defaced until later in the evening, Tony was there in the morning watching people sign and thru most of the day some responsible intern i am guessing was there watching until about 7pm. Then it looked like less than enthusied ride op was there just handing out markers. Thats when it was ruined.

That is just wrong. I blame not only the defacers(is that a word?) but also the ride op that wasn't doing his/her job. People like that should be fired...

I was very upset when I saw the condition of the banners. The large scribbles of useless nonsense that arrogant punks carved over big Gemini fan signatures (mine included) really got me steamed. It sadly lost all credibility IMO.

I know it's not even close, but maby you could start a new thread and title it "Gemini's Birthday Riders". People could tell good Gemini stories or talk about when they rode it on it's birthday. I wasn't there so I can't start post the new topic.

I'll be back!

Me either, but I wish I was! Maybe when Gemini turns 50, I'll go!

I agree with Adam. Me and him were both standing there saying how terrible it was ... what these people did to these banners.

And the ride op didnt even care... he just sat there and watched as people defaced the banners.

The banners should have been removed from the midway once full, and also a more reputable person should have been there ALL day long.

I think the idea of having banners people sign is a bad one in general. What's the point? Unless it was only signed by people who worked or had some special connection to it in 1978? You can still see the 25th anniversary banners in the Town Hall Museum, but they also have crap written on them. Put a banner on the station and leave it at that.
