I worked at the park and only got to see the Electrical Room (any TTD Ride Host can get in there) I don't think that CP would allow people in the motor room while the ride was running, and they would be foolish to shut the ride down to allow such a tour.

About the best chance you're going to get to see the motor is if they happen to have the "garage door" open to work on it right after park close. That will only be a glimpse in there though as there will be someone around who isn't going to let you just walk in. :)
There are quite a few pics of the motor during construction.

One night in October of 2003 just after I had gotten off the ride after park close I was walking by the building and the garage door raised. There was one maintenance guy in there. Then they launched a train. Getting to see the drum spin at that rate was really a neat thing to see. As soon as the train launched though the garage door was lowered. It was kind of strange how that guy just raised it for a launch and then lowered it.

There's a few pictures on my website of the hydraulic room door open: http://www.bholcomb.com/cp080703/index.html
The motor must be awesome to see in real life (especially if it's running).....I mean that thing is big!

Or you can get a job in ride maintenance for a couple of seasons. Then get the crap scared out of you standing near the drum as trains are being launched. Just be sure to grab your ear protection on your way through the electrical room. ;)

I think it would be pretty cool if like, during April they had some sort of "Behind the Scenes", something like disney. It would be somewhat of a package. You get a nights hotel stay, meals, rides on TTD, MF, Raptor and Twister, and the tour. I'm sure people would pay a great deal of money for something like this.

Is it possible to get an engine room tour? Yes. I know someone who did. With the ride running. No, it wasn't me.
Is it possible for *you* (or me, for that matter) to get an engine room tour? Sadly, probably not. :)
You have to be the right person, know the right person, and have just the right opportunity. That doesn't happen very often.

Its simply amazing to see the stuff that makes Dragster run while the ride is in operation. I won't say anything else or go into any more detail, so don't ask. *** Edited 6/27/2005 5:07:16 PM UTC by pdhaudio83***

Disneyland does offer up some pretty cool guided tours. Besides lots of interesting information and history, other perks include reserved show seating, reserved parade viewing, front of the line access, snacks and usually some kind of take home souvenir. The prices for their tours average around $50-$60 a person.
Similar tours at Cedar Point could be easy money for the park. Having seen enough backstage areas of the park myself, I wouldn't pay for it but I'm sure there are plenty of people here that would.
