Evening all, I've looked through a few topics in the past but either the information was dated or didn't answer everything I wanted to know or get me in the direction of a good point of contact.
I am a recent honorable discharge from the Air Force transitioning to civilian life again. During my time with the military I was a 4N051 (Aerospace Medicine Technician Journeyman) with a current NREMT EMT-B license and applying for Ohio state reciprocity. I have gained experience at both in and outpatient settings to include a significant amount of time in the Emergency Department.
Currently I am working with a university to go to school this spring and gain my BSN to be licensed as an RN. Over the next four years however, I would like to use my valid EMT license to keep my clinical skills sharp which will help me achieve my degree. Plus I would like to be involved with patient care as much as possible. I miss my patients at Wright Patterson AFB already, four years without patient care would not be enjoyable, and overall patient care will help me be a better RN in the future.
In between the spring and fall semesters I would like to pursue a position in an EMS department, and thought Cedar Point would be a good candidate being that they work with a prospective employees college dates as I witnessed as a ride operator in the past with Cedar Point.
Can anyone here point me in the direction to someone I would need to speak with regarding this or have worked at Cedar Point's EMS? Would anyone have any pointers, suggestions, or feedback regarding their employment as an EMT on Point?
Thanks again for your help, lets hope for a successful upcoming summer!

From one veteran to another, "Thank you for your service!"
Good look in your job search and in school. Keep us posted.
I'm just sorry I can't help you.
No big deal brother. I'm accepted and ready for school in Spring '15. Just waiting on the college to allow me to register for classes, and get my VA benefits rolling, just need that letter with the COE. However, as typical, it's hurry up and wait. One thing you really have to learn being a civilian. You need to have patience. Military, there's an order, a "Yes, Sir" and it's done.

Fellow EMT here..... I've always wanted to check out their little EMS ambulette! the small one they drive thru the park.
Thought it would be odd to just walk in the door and say, 'Hey, can I check out your rig'!
I'm sure it's a BLS rig moreover than anything, I don't believe they have ALS in the park other than fire/outside supporting agencies, but I'd love to take a look myself. But not sure on protocols on point & how they work.
Maybe if I get in next year I'll let you know :P

I have seen a full sized ambulance at the park...never inside the park, but parked outside the fencing, over by the Admin Building.
I've only seen the small ones inside...sure you'd never get the full sized one through the park ~only because folks cant get out of the way most of the time! Sort of figured the small ones would transport to the full sized rig if they ever needed to do anything major.
'Suppose they'd let me take it for a spin? Lol
Yeah, pass out in the park or complain of dehydration & they'll give you a ride to the nearest first aid station :)

I think "take it for a spin" meant driving. If you pass out or are dehydrated, I don't think you're in any state to drive. ;)
True..thought she meant tag along, quick skimming didn't work too well there haha..
I wonder protocols in the park. Dehydrated, just give oral fluids, or wondering if they can push NS or LR like if they're unconscious..
That's the only gripe I have with my training. We're licensed as NREMT EMT's, but practice well above that scope on base. Hoping the state will at least give me AEMT so I can do IV/IO/etc. which is stuff I've been doing for years. EMT's are basically O2/Transport unfortunately.

We do staff at BLS and ALS levels. We also have RNs in the stations . We do transport via ambulance.

Curious as to the type of calls they would have,...like most EMS I would assume mostly minor routine problems.
I've never seen a major incident inside the park...with their amount of people I would think they have had their share of more major problems, esp with the summertime heat.
You would be surprised. Shoot the Rapids accident, Dragster cable break, fatal heart attack, the Magnum bump, and several car accidents on the causeway just this year to name a few major things. But, mostly head aches, dehydration, nausea, cuts and bruises, and they have had a female in labor a few times. First aid also offers a quiet area for nursing mothers. Remember Safety Services covers everything on point not just the park.
