Employee Question

Hi, I am just wondering what is the scariest emergency or problem you have ever had to deal with while operating a ride or in any job at CP.

just ~50~ miles away from the greatest amusement park in the world!!
Well, there have been some, but the scariest was definately the waterspouts of 1998. Guests were terrified.

working with hangovers..... i think I'm drunk now. Waterspouts are fun!!!
The scariest thing that ever happened to me was when i was working register at Mr. Potato, i was taking an older guests order, and he just collapsed!!! no warning, just fell straight to the ground! i have never dialed 911 faster in my life. luckily they got there quick enough to help the guy, turned out he had a bad case of heat exahustion, and he was dehydrated pretty bad.
A mechanical shutdown on the Iron Dragon during the summer of '98, with a thunderstorm on the way. We had to walk guests down off the metal stairways and we could see lightning over the bay. The guests were nervous, but we weren't. I can't say that I've ever been really spooked - grace under pressure, I guess.

*I missed the waterspouts! I was on a split that day, back in Gold dorms reading, and missed the whole thing. The storm wasn't as bad as the one 3-4 days before, so I didn't think it was any big deal. Greatest weather opportunity of my life (pictures) and I've got my nose in a book... Sheesh. *GRIN*

The time one of our cows decided to jump both fences enclosing the pasture he was in, and ran around not letting us catch him.

This past year, after a basketball incident on our ride, a few angry guests(mind you, it was a Saturday--employees know what Saturday guests are like) became very irate at our crew member working entrance. Security came to stand by our crew member and protect her when the guests finished the ride. After discovering that their basketballs were missing, they started to depricate our entrance person and taunt her until she was in tears. Not standing for this, the security officer attempted to escort the brash, contemptible group out of the park. In response to this, the vexed group of guests started to attack the security officer and within a few minutes, we had a nice little mini-riot near the train crossing by the Gemini. Included in this nice little mini-riot were CP security, Sandusky Police, and Bob Wozniak, who showed eyewitnesses that he was apt at tackling people. Does anyone else remember this? I found it too exciting to miss so I started parking trains with my head turned around backwards. I didn't overshoot once or kill any guests.
The waterspouts sound kinda scary. I am suprised that they never really get the coasters or CP. Believe it or not, I didnt make it to the point in the '98 season. Somehow my family just didn't make it there I don't know how many times I asked and bugged and everything. I've been to the point about 20 times so you can see I've always loved it. I live in Michigan 50 miles away and I can't drive so I can't a season pass so we only go 2 times a year but in '96 we kept winning tickets so we went 3 times but since I am more into coasters and CP now---I don't think I can miss a season!!

Well this is exciting I'd like to hear from more of you even if you aren't planning on working at the point but you have in the past

I had a front row seat for the Gemini "riot". Actually, I was one of the two officers that got jumped. It was really not a big deal. I never did look at Bob the same way after that. He is a machine.
Yeah, I remember the mini-riot in front of the Gemini last year. Actually I was a sweep in that zone, and I was right near the gemini when it happened. Needless to say, I stopped sweeping and just watched it with the rest of the crowd.
Well I never have worked at cp because I am only 15 but one time when i was in heights we all went up to cp for that big heights thing. after we got are work done we could go on the ries and alot of us ran to millenium force. Thats the day when one of the trains were half way up and then all of a sudden it just came right back down really fast and nobody new what happened. I still don't they closed the ride and we got out of line but that was realy scary!
Hey CrystalKat i think i was on the iron dragon when that happend. Right before that storm! yeah it was hard going down those stairs b/c it was so windy!

In 2000, my first year when the tree hit the train during the july storm..and watching lighting hit the milenium force
