Early May Weekends vs. Last August Weekdays

Hello Everyone,

For the first time since I've had my Platinum Pass, I'm going to venture away from my home park of CP and visit King's Dominion for I-305 and other fun goodies.

The two weeks I'm debating going are May 8th - May 14th and August 14th - August 20th. Since the park is only open weekends that week of May, I would have to do a Friday/Saturday. If I went with the August week, I could go mid-week without a problem.

All things being equal, which will be the better date to go? CP seemed to have fairly steady crowds until September hit this year, but I also didn't go in May, so I have nothing to compare it to. Any guidance would be appreciated.

I went to Kings Dominion in the middle of May last year and the crowds weren't that bad, even on the weekend. Longest line I waited was about 30 min. I'd recommend going in May when the weather is nice and its not so crowded yet. Kings Dominion seems to not get really busy til mid June.

Late August can be iffy at any park, as lots of times the college help has started back to school by then, but family vacations may still be in full swing.

Thanks for the replies, guys. I'll be making it early May then. Off topic, but does I-305 have an on-ride camera? I can't find the location of it.

It does have a ride photo. Its on the last 2 turns between the last bunny hill and the brake run. Last year I rode the ride 10 times and every picture came out bad because of the cameras angle when you're in the middle of a banked turn.

If you will be in the area for a little while I suggest making a stop over at Busch Gardens.

The problem you run into with I305 on any non-busy day is that it seems like the will only run one train. I don't need to tell you that this makes a long wait even when the line is short, especially if you try to ride the front.

It's a great ride but I cannot fathom a reason not to be running both trains at all times.

Especially considering that running two trains would, presumably, lessen the severity with which I305 melts wheels (providing more cool down time between runs).
