DT-CP's 'Dumb' coaster

I must agree with Dick.

Ralph Wiggum is my Cedar Point hero!

Do you really think Kinzel said that?

ONE freeway stamp a day... ONE

He really said it, on the interview with NPR earlier this summer. It's not that bad of a ride though. I need to ride something right after eating. ;)

HAHAHAHHAHA,thats great, he is pretty much right though, i remember get out of line and saying it was to short and the fact that you cant see anything is thrilling but on the turns were it comes out of the building should be open.

Cedar Point, The Roller Coast!!

I don't mind so much that it's an uninteresting ride, I mind that it's so damn ugly on that prime real estate.

If there was one ride in the park I wish desperately would go away, that's the one. It's an eyesore.

DELETED! What time does the water show start?

I remember the midway before the addition Avalanch run and the subtraction of the Upsidedown Funhouse. That corner used to be so busy because of the cool rides it had. I hope CF reads the boards and someday tears the montrousity down!

What a great location for a family coaster like a mouse. Maybe a nice flat like a giant Frisbee?

Uhh, hello? Peek inside, you'll find a family coaster!

I think he's saying that $4 million on retheming was dumb. But hey, after Magnum you're allowed an occasional brain fart...

After I rode DT with my friend who has never ridden it before, he turns to me and says that it was comparable to riding a bicycle in the dark. I thought that was hilarious.
DT isn't the most fun ride (obviously) but it's cool on hot days or when it's raining. Also, if it wasn't there, then we'd only have 15 coasters and Magic Mountain will be the only park with the record of most roller coasters.

This topic is getting SO old...none of us are big fans of DT, but it's still a coaster--deal with it.

Millennium Force is MY baby.
Where would we be without CP?:)

There have been dumber businessman decisions. I'm referring to the shredding of documents at Enron. Besides that, when Chevy decided to make the Vega (absolute crap).

"Yeah, but John, if the Pirates of the Caribbean breaks down, the pirates don't eat the tourists."

Furry Elvis Slippers...I'd love to see those...lol. Anyways, remember the Disaster Transport Removed/Remodeled/Replaced thread? This is further evidence for those who rejected the whole idea.

I have one big problem with the comments about the building as an eyesore and the dumb decision. I love indoor roller coasters. If the 12E building was torn down, I'd take it that there wouldn't be another indoor coaster to replace it. I personally don't have a problem with the DT building, but for those that do, can you make an attractive building for a coaster? Is PKI's Flight of Fear building attractive? If there's not going to be an indoor coaster to replace DT, I almost want it to stay.

Oh and if there's one ride 'I wish would desperately go away,' it's Mantis all the way...that's the "dumb" one IMO. I ride DT every CP visit; Mantis is non-existent in my mind.

Same with me. I have a very personal dislike for Mantis. But through the park's perspective: the ride to go first in this case: Disaster Transport. The ride is all funned out.

Space Mountain is an indoor coaster, and arguably an attractive one.

It's not war, famine, or pestilence; it's only downtime.

Speaking of which Mr Noble if disney can put all of its rides buildings out of sight, whats holding other parks from following that standard. Kennywood park has a few indoor rides and they are all hidden or the building is themed on the outside. Which comes to another idea, disater transport is supposed to be like your being shipped to alaska or something, so they were probably shooting for the bulk mail center look. thats all. oh, when i was a kid, that was my absolute favorite ride next to the iron dragon.
I can name an attractive building housing an indoor roller coaster. Exterminator at Kennywood, neat little themed building.

RIP Top Thrill Dragster Themeing, who lies here in pieces on June 26, 2003.

Good...so attractive buildings can be made with proper theming. I think the PKI Tomb Raider building was neat too, as I remember. Being a thrill park, CP places no importance on theming (though I think more people care about theming than CP speculates), so maybe a new indoor coaster just isn't realistic at CP.

But, going into DT (especially in its old themed form) always felt so refreshing to me. You are in this bright outdoor place all day with beating sun, lots of noise, and crowds of people. When I go into the building, it's just like going into a new world temporarily, away from everything CP. As I exit the ride and my eyes adjust to the bright light, part of me wants to go back into the dungeon :). I'll really miss an indoor ride if it happens.

I think DT was my first non kiddie coaster, IE Jr.Gemini. Well DT was called Avalanche Run tho, and i don't think they needed to cover it in the first place, they just needed a place to store junk for the winter lol.

Rollercoasters have proven to cause brain damage in stupid politicians. DAR-HOOT

trips to CP:6 Dragster:2 MFer:6 Magnum: 13 Still warm less bugs, lines getting smaller, hey its August!

Almost anything would make that building look better. How about a different color of paint? Something besides a sandy gray.

Wait, I've got it! The ulitimate dumb CEO decision is when the Paramount people decided to make Marci X. The movie absolutely bombed. I bet the poor dotes that produced that film are going to blacklisted in Hollywood.
