Dragster Trains Modified

Anyone have a picture of this?

Arms down.....Arms down.....Arms down.......Arms down.....Arms down....Arms down...(you think they would get it the first time?!)
Don't go with the "well, only if Jeff says so" deal, because there are plenty of eyewitnesses at this point who are just as credible as Jeff who have seen the added capacity...

There are probably seat mounts under the diamond plate "shelf" that the theming was attached to

It was probably easiest to do this; that way, you are manufacturing five identical car chassis per train (plus one oddball for the front) rather than four identical plus two oddballs.

On the notion of the theming coming back. I've heard a lot of people say "surely it must be possible to get right." Remeber, they thought they had it right the first time (when the wheels were spinning), and then again the second time (when one fell off). Having worked with lawyers, I doubt that Cedar Fair General Counsel is going to give them the okay for a third attempt, since the liability involved with a theme element falling off the train at 420 feet is too expensive to contemplate.

It's not war, famine, or pestilence; it's only downtime.

Why is CP choosing to do this now? Are the extra seats really necessary for operation? Why couldn't they have just removed the theming and waited til the off season to add the seats?

I swear, some people are never happy. With the new seats, about 100-150 more people per hour can ride. Give me one good reason why they shouldn't do it now? Since the ride is down anyway, I can't think of a better time to do it.

I'd rather be in my boat with a drink on the rocks,
than in the drink with a boat on the rocks.

A couple weeks ago while I was at the park the themeing (wing and engine for all 6 trains) was behind that far wall, the wall im talking about is the one to your right when you enter the queue. You could see if from standing behind the tower about were you would enter Paddlewheel excursions. I guess they were just storing it there.

Millennium Force: 17
Trips to the point: 13

Now I wonder, how much did Goodyear have to pay for their names on the tires, and if any, penalties CP will have to pay for getting rid of the tires.

I think the two new seats are great, any bit helps with this ride I think and I won't miss the themeing to much, I never paid attention to it anyway, there was always the sounds of the engine and the anticipation. But there is still alot there and I never noticed the back when I was riding it, it would of been great with it on but it doesn't take anything away from the ride .

------------------
Life has it's ups and downs, might as well make it on a coaster!

Likely reasons for the change:

1. It's now obvious the ride is a "winner" (when it runs). Every little bit of extra capacity will help in the long run.

2. They weren't even close to the projected 1,500 hourly capacity, even when things were running "smoothly". I'm sure it was quite unacceptable by Cedar Fair standards.

This is the right move, even though I liked the theming.

Hey, I heard a rumor that Millenium Force is sinking... It's sucking Dragster in with it.

The more likely reasons for the change were...

1. The rattling of the engines etc. on the back. But why not replace that with a more secure and lighter weight engine on the back.

2. The tire falling off and almost hitting someone.

3. As you said the added capacity. However, the added seats aren't going to mean anything when it doesn't run, which is one reason why they're not close to the 1,500 PPH.

Does anybody have a picture of this? The trains now have a nose and a front spoiler on the first car, but nothing in the back. I hope this isn't for good. That themeing added to the whole effect of the ride. I never was even able to see the tires. Just the spoiler and the engine.

It's not the best photo, but there are only 4 cars on this train. http://dprintonline.com/new_page_2.htm It seemed that only two trains were this way. The others had the correct amount of cars (5).

So there isn't new seats. It's just that there's 4 cars.

TopThrillDragster03, as much as some of us don't want to admit it, there's new seating on all the trains. People are saying that with the trains with all 5 cars they have the additional seating.

How about 2 pieces of styrofoam painted black. Cut them into the shape of your racing slicks.

You wouldn't even have to worry about them flying off either because they would just float to the ground.

I was super before Superstew was cool!

Have a small chute like the real dragsters have to slow them down after a race. Attatch it to the redesigned, one piece theming. Then, if it falls off, it will come down slowly and everyone will have ample time to move out of the way.

"Alaska?? Nobody said we were going to Alaska!!"

Hopefully this means that they will also give up on the dreaded "wall" part of the theme-ing ;)

Today on 6/26 I sat and watched CP maintenance install an extra queue row for the additional seats. They completed it by late in the afternoon. They welded up more railing, gate, etc this afternoon. Also the trains are there in plain view with an extra row of seating where theming once was.

its like saying the avg. American family has 2.5 kids, .5 of a kid??
