dragster theming

as i said before there are really good materials available to mount those tires... my dad is a metallurist.. spelling?? and they have ex-ray machines that can make sure the axles are not going to break.. even portable units.. they use them in maintenance even on some roller coasters to check pipe and by the way... again real top FUEL dragsters make waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay more horsepower than this ride's g- forces and i researched through nhra and found 1 axle failure in over 25 years and that was a low budget team not running the best parts.. so the tire problem would be an easy fix.. 900 per train for a set of moser high-tuff axles

friction causes heat not holding power they do a burn out to get the tires sticky thats all.. no holding power at all if you watch the nhra or ihra im sure youve seen lots of fuel cars lose traction.. there axles do not break

if cp felt it was unsafe with the tires why did they not close the ride that night.. they may have put alot of people at risk

Bill, comparing the launch of Top Thrill Dragster to a Top Fuel Dragster race is not a valid comparison for the axles. A Top Fuel Dragster's axle is supported at both of its ends (i.e.: the tires touch the ground). Top Thrill Dragster's themeing axles were supported approximately 1/4 of the way from their ends with a mass (tire) cantillevered at each end. The dynamic responses of these two setups are drastically different.

My two cents on the theming. While I don't have any official information, common sense tells me that after all the time spent rearranging the station queues, moving the load control panel, and adjusting the numbers on the station floor, and all the money spent on 12 extra seats, and the paying for the labor to install and test them, plus with the added capacity on a ride that doesn't have great capacity, I really really do not see why CP would even think about throwing all that work away for something that is purely for ascetic reasons.

Brent, now that you put it that way I now believe that the engine will not come back. If they really wanted to the tire and spoiler could come back. There are ways to do stuff. If it can be done CP can do it.

In it's current configuration I believe the only thing that CAN come back is the spoiler... I know for sure the engine can't... and there is no way the wheels will ever come back... but the spoiler attached to the rear bumper.... so I believe that CAN make a return.

Ok, I agree that it is highly unlikely that the real ties won't be placed back on the car. Someone a while back mentioned that they might be able to use fiberglass or something. Is there any way they might be able to add fake tires?

With the spoiler though, doesn't it affect the overall performance of the ride? I'm not saying I know everything about drag racing, but I do know a lot with my brother and I working on a professional drag racers crew. The only reason a Top Fuel Dragster has the spoiler is to create down force on the back tires so in essence the ride doesn't fly away at those high speeds. So on Top Thrill Dragster, all I can really see it as is drag and a wheel ruiner with it constantly putting extra pressure on the back wheels of the train.

Mawty- That all depends on the angle & height of the spoiler. Ever seen on a Porsche that the spoiler deploys at a certain speed? Or how about the high end (I know they're all high end) Lamborghini's or Ferrari's with the "active" bodywork, that moves and positions itself to create the proper forces? You could configure that spoiler to actually lift the rear of the train so it was riding on its upstop wheels if you wanted. Why not angle it so it helps the train up and over? I dunno if that's really feasable but an interesting thought... Or, you could set it so it creates little to no force at all.

The engine? Hardy visible. I dont care.

The spoiler? YES! It's rather weird not having the back spoiler. It looks like a normal coaster with a crappy-looking front car.

Leave it to CP to theme something...

Well if you leave it to them to theme something then more things will be removed than added.

I'm surprised that no one has commented on whether or not the front fins will be returning this season (after being removed just prior to the end of last season).

In one of the many other threads on the theming, it is mentioned that the thing in the picture is actually a stack of mulch bags being used by the grounds crew. I would like to see the spoiler come back to, but it doesn't look like it's going to.

i hope they put the themeing back on.
