To go with the special access posts above, I do think they should be able to pick whatever seat they want. To not allow them to would be discrimination. To go along with that, I think all parks should just do a virtual queue system, like you get a ticket or check in with the app and get a wait time to come back. Fast Lane could still exist but you just get on faster than everyone else, like it is now. Your return time would be in about 15 minutes instead of an hour. If people aren't standing in line, they could be out in the park spending money. Plus guests could enjoy other things the park has to offer like shows. But I'm sure there's probably more cons than pros to that idea or it would exist by now.

For use of an app not everyone has a phone. Groups may not be able to split up if only some members have phones. Batteries die. Coverage is not always perfect. You often cannot carry your phone in line if you do not have the right pockets, so you show your phone, go back to the locker, and return? People have different data plans and phones and may not want to download an app. I like the idea but there are bugs to work out. The Disney system that I remember where you scan in and get a ticket but the computer is all theirs probably would work better at this point. A barcode on a wristband and then several kiosks to check in is what I am thinking. You could have an optional supplemental app to update you on the times if people choose to use it. Something like this is the future. It is just a matter of time.

I'm not sure CP has that many compelling activities for guests to engage in to make this worthwhile.

-Shopping at CP is never going to be like Disney or Universal, there is simply not enough unique-to-the-park merchandising (ie. potter, mouse ears). CP stores are pretty much a once a season visit to see what new hats or t-shirts are available and to see what they finally marked down the Geauga Lake stuff down to.

-Dining at CP is better done outside the parks gates, plus the people on plans are limited to how many meals they want to choke down a day. So quasi-limited revenue potential for park given meal plans.

-Shows: start later in season are already limited in performance times staggered throughout the park as to not overlap much. Pretty Limited seating for much of the venues. Also not much additional revenues for park.

-Freestyle Beverage Refill Competitions: You could spend your waiting times in search of an open freestyle location... but that generally doesn't gain the park any revenues.

(edit: I forgot about Dinosaurs Alive. Everyone could go and check it out and buy souvenirs before they become extinct.)

-THREE POINT CHALLENGES!!! open more!!

Alternate access guests do get the choice of where they want to sit. Their boarding time is based off of the wait time in the station as well as the queue. The ride host will ask them if they have a preference where they want to sit. If they don’t, then they aren’t doing what they were trained to.

TwistedWicker, that is partially true but not entirely unless the entire staff on TTD for the past three seasons are not doing what they are trained to do. Front row is off limits.

Actually I think the best is Valraven. While I can understand how that one experience is frustrating, normally busting out 6-8 people per train with a 3 train operation on a short track makes that line move fast when it looks long.

That was just one of the more extreme cases. Operators don't assign the front seat and they leave it to the clueless guests to fill that row. Some of these people don't even have the common sense to go all of the way down to the end of the row leaving empty seats on the ends for riders 7 and 8. While I am extremely happy that they leave the front seat line open to all who want to wait for it, I just wish they would really attempt to fill it. even if just by leaving the gates open long enough for riders a little further back in the front seat queue to fill it.

As far as the TTD queue goes, it's not really much different than before as far as what I experienced on Sunday. I actually like the station not being crammed. They were letting people from regular lines go to either end of the station. I just hope that when it's extremely hot, like it's supposed to be this weekend, that they let more of us in the shade in the station. It's going to be brutal.

In line for Boulder Dash now (better not suck like it did 2 years ago.) Guest in front of me just told his friends about this coaster at Cedar Point that launches at over 200 mph.

The load one operator (where the front row is) is supposed to group the front row in groups of eight. I think with the influx of new hires, they would rather have them focus on getting used to working the position comfortably and then have them be able to group them since it is not a priority. You would think that the riders in front row can group themselves, but that's not always the case. Seeing one seat open is not a big deal since finding a single rider in the line can be difficult when you're aiming for 45-60 second dispatches.
