Dragster is NOT Back

Spent the day at Cedar Point today (Friday)...

Here are my Dragster gripes for the day.

1. CedarPoint.com noted that Dragster was scheduled to open today.

2. When we arrived in the parking lot we were given pink slips that stated Dragster would be open today.

3. The sign at the entrance said Dragster would be open today (with possible short shutdowns).

4. Dragster didn't open to riders until 5:00PM.

5. Dragster broke down at 6:15PM.

6. Dragster didn't re-open.

1 hour and 15 minutes of up time is very disappointing...2nd trip this year without Dragster running.

and you open a new post why?

------------------
TTD=10(frontseat=3)double digits baby!!!
rollbacks seen=2...1 almost stopped at top

This post was to let people know that even if they watch CP.com, get e-mails from CP (dragster is back e-mail this week), and see the dragster is open signs at the park....there is still a possibility that the ride can be down all day.
duh thats been like that for weeks...read the other threads

MeanStreaker:

1. I know dragster hasn't been running for a few weeks.

2. The "Dragster is Back!" Post is all about how great Dragster has been for the past week.

3. I just pointed out that there still can be problems (Dragster only being one for an hour all day).

So back off a little.

Meanstreaker- dont worry about skibum, he;s just mad that he didnt get to ride TTD.

Skibum- How many times have you been to CP this year???
-If just 2 than maybe you havent been able to ride TTD because you havent got to the Point enough this year.
- if more than that then look at the times you have got to ride TTD.

1. We know

2. We know

3. We know

Well........maybe tell us something we DONT know.

Some of the people on this site amaze me with their quick negativity towards Posts.

The reason I posted was to let the people who AREN'T "we know it alls" know that if they show up at Cedar Point and ALL the signs (see original post) point to Top Thrill Dragster being open there's a possibility that it won't open (1 hour and 15 minutes is NOT open). It made me chuckle to see the "Dragster Will Open Today" sign still out in front of the gates when we were leaving after 11PM on Friday night.

I'm not upset that I didn't get to go on the ride because I'll be there at least 2 more times this season.

Skibum you amaze me. The ride was down, whoopdeedoo!

I don't mean to be mean but quitchabichen. Roller Coasters are machines, and machines break down. It happens. If Magnum breaks down, no one trips. If Millennium Force breaks down, no one makes a big deal. But Big ol' Dragster breaks down and Cedar Point is a liar and Dragster still sucks. Guys, seriously after so many years of good service, can't you cut the park a break once?

As for the site, listen, don't use it. For a good four days after TTD was running, the site said it was down. Either call or just take your chances.

Looked open to me on the web cam early yesterday afternoon. Maybe you were on the other side of the park. Unless you sat in the grandstands all day with a watch, how do you know it was only up 75 minutes? The signs say delays are possible. There's nothing you can do about that.

Actually, no matter where you are in the park with the exception of being inside a building you can see TTD. No matter what line we were in we were constantly watching TTD to see if it was up and running. I was there yesterday as well as Thursday and I agree with the other post that said, it was down all day til around 5pm and then it only ran for a short time. It is just the luck of the draw. Fortunately I was able to ride it on Thurs. and it was great!!

You must be talking about another Friday than the 18th because I was there at CP until 2:30 and it opened around 1:30 and I rode it around 2. I dont know what happened after 2:30 but all I know was it was open to riders around 1:30, way before 5.

Dragster is a big ride, but there are lots of places around the park where you can't see it or wouldn't notice it. I know - I have actually been to Cedar Point once or twice. Sounds like thebeast didn't have any trouble riding around 2 p.m.

I was also there on friday, got inline whent he park opened, waited 7 hours to get on the ride, finally got on the front seat. I was VERY disappointed with the way CP handled everything.

I have never been upset with CP for anything in the past, but I was truly disappointed There was a lack of updates to the crowd, lack of consideration towards those waiting inline and just an overall half-butted operation. They need to figure out what to do with this ride.

At least the ride was open the day you went. At least it was only for a little bit. There were other days when the ride was not open at all. I do understand your frustration though.

3 TTD rides in 2 hours!

If you haven't ridden it before, then I guess it's ok to wait 7 hours...if your a diehard fan. But if you have ridden it, then that's just crazy!

I agree about CP being very dissapointing not giving you updates in line, but you can't expect them to always get it right. But yes, they do need to figure out what to do with this ride. It probably won't be until next year though....which is expected.

skibum thanks for the update, you should know that it IS appreciated by some of us who know that CP is in fact not god. Im going Tuesday with a friend who has never ridden it before, and i was worried about what time it may or may not open. So after your post, and checking the web cams im expecting it to open but not with the park, im thinking around 1 or 2.
I have ridden it twice before. I waited 7 hours to grab the frontseat, but I also had my girlfriend with me, I feel really bad for her, that all that crap we went through was her first impression of the ride.

She was just SO mad by the time we finally got on, she didnt care how it was she just wanted to leave that area and go do something else. She ended up LOVING the ride, but now shes just really upset at everything we went through. I mean, shell go on it again probably, but its just that I feel bad because I know she would feel so much better about it, and had been SO much happier when we got off if we hadnt had to have done all that.

youre lucky you got the 1 hour and 15 minutes you did. the last time i went (7/8), the website said it would be open, we got the pink slip saying it was open, we got to the line and they announced it would open, then all of the sudden they said it would be closed all day - not even a test run. be happy with the chance you got, while it wasnt much, its a lot more than a lot of the people who have come to the park have gotten.

Perhaps Cedar Point should join the Psychic Friends network so they can start each day knowing everything that will happen. Then they can post once a report once in the morning on the website, something like this:

We are happy to inform you that our newest coaster Top Thrill Dragster is scheduled to be open today at 10:00am, but we regret to inform you that there will be a hydraulic breakdown at 12:12 pm , but we are happy to inform you that it will be back up and running at 2:46pm, but we regret to inform you that a thunderstorm will enter the area at 4:13 and we will have to close the ride, but we are happy to inform you that the ride will reopen at 6:01 when the weather clears, but we regret to inform you that their will be a slight delay in loading the ride at 7:58 when some idiot barfs all over the yellow train, but we are happy to inform you that the ride will be back to normal at 8:03, but we regret to inform you that the ride will close at 11:00pm when the park closes. And just in case your interested we are pretty sure that one of the Cadillac cars will stall out. Thank You.
