Bamaboy, I think we'd all admit that we enjoy going to any Six Flags park. The only problem is that your on a Cedar Point fansite, so obviously we are going to like Cedar Point more than Six Flags.
I think I have tried to post that as "peaceful" as possible.

You all just say CP is better because this is a "Cedar Point fansite so obviously we are going to like Cedar Point more than Six Flags." How awfully true that is. Its like a little club where all of you join around a circle together to worship CP, and make fun of everything else. Sounds like a few of you need some real friends.
Most of you just say things that aren't true, i dont know where you get the facts, its all assumptions. You all act this way so you can feel like your a part of the park, like your important, when really, all you are is income for Cedar Fair Amusement.
Its all a joke, and really, its pathetic.

In a local market, Cedar Point is destroying Six Flags Worlds of Adventure. There are also links I can provide that attest to this. CP was featured as one of the only parks doing well last year and they attributed it to good weather conditions, while SFWoA was doing bad and attributed it to bad weather conditions...when the park are less than an hour away from each other.
Six Flags is a few billion dollars in debt while Cedar Fair is only a couple 100 million in debt. You could say that this has to do solely with SF owning more parks, but I don't think the guys on Wall Street would agree. With SF turning such bad numbers last year, they downgraded their stock to something horrible like 4, while Cedar Fair's stock continues to gain more and more.
Park management and customer service aside, Cedar Fair is dominating Six Flags financially...throw in the customer service and you really see who comes out on top.
I have just one question, what's with the bitterness steelrider33?

I would say owning over 3 dozen parks around the world is being pretty well off financially. If you have any better proof than that CP is off better financially, show me, i'd love to see it.

No, you are the pathetic one. Have you ever researched financial information for Six Flags (symbol: PKS) compared to financial information for Cedar Fair (symbol: FUN)? It doesn't take a hardcore Cedar Point fan to realize that Cedar Fair is much better off financially than Six Flags is. As of late, Six Flags has continually been reporting disappointing numbers in their quarterly reports, while Cedar Fair has been maintaining decent numbers even in the face of a bear market. Six Flags is on a spending spree, and is driving the company into a major debt hole. In addition, newly-acquired parks such as SFWoA are not anywhere close to meeting their targets. You would know all of this simply by checking Coasterbuzz from time to time...
Having said that, what was the title of this thread again?

---- back on topic ----
On the whole broadband/56k speed thing... how long does it take a dial-up user to load CP's page in its current status? And if you do post a time, please tell what speed you're getting when you dial in... 28.8, 26.4, etc.
I wouldn't think it be more than 30 seconds... to add a moving Millennium Force, either in the same graphic area as is currently set for motion, or by separating into two separate graphics, shouldn't offset it a noticable amount, maybe a second or two?

I'm 56k, and it's hard to tell you how long it takes since the page is stored in my temp internet files. Since I visit the page often, it only takes 14 seconds from start to done. I estimate 45 seconds if you are visiting the site for the first time.

------- BACK ON TOPIC -------
Many areas of the web are being created with broadband speeds in mind. My personl area on my company's web site is right there with it.
But the majority of users have absolutely zero access to broadband, which makes web site design difficult. Do I build it for the dial-up users, so they don't have to wait, or do I build it with broadband speeds in mind, putting up fancy pages that will make the first impression a good one? Trying to find something in the middle, a page that loads fast and looks good, is extremely difficult to do.
Cedar Point's an amusement park. Their park is fun to be at. Their web site has to transfer, in whatever way it can, the fun-ness fo the park to the website visitor. I mean, come on, if their website was an ugly text page, I'd think twice before visiting the actual park. But their main page has graphics of the park, with everyone having a fun time, and hey look that ride's in motion at the top, isn't that cool???
Of course, if it takes too long to load, then you're bound to click off to some other site. That's what people do. But web users need to understand that dial-up just doesn't cut it anymore, and that visiting the more popular pages is going to take a bit to load.
I remember when, at work, we didn't have T1 access... it was just plain dial-up, and at 26.4, downloading 14MB driver files took forever. But we waited. It was all we had to work with. And we did it with the understanding that, while it may take a while longer, we could still get what we needed.
Oh man, do I sound like a preacher or what??
Anyway, personally, I think it'd be cool to see the whole top banner in motion. Maybe it could be done with flash to save on download time? (Don't know. I don't use flash.)
Or if it does take too long to load, then keep it the way it is. The balance between looking good and load time has to be kept.
