Dorms

Hi, I know this is a little early, but I wanted to know how quickly do the women's dorms inside the park fill up?  If I get accepted I'll be starting work in mid-May, and was hoping on being able to get into the in-park dorms.  Will there likely be room open by the time I get there?

Thanks

Absolutely there will be plenty of room left, never fear. The on-point dorms (the women's dorms are called "Gold" ) aren't the most popular, but they've always been my #1 choice for the cheapness and convenience.  They won't be open until the beginning of May (some employees do start in April), and you won't have a problem getting a room.  They are small, so be sure not to bring too much!  The bathrooms are community-style, and there is no air-conditioning so a fan is a must.  Enjoy!

There is always the option of putting in a window air conditioner (my fav part of living in gold) you must bring your own, and it costs $25 for them to install it, and take it out....then it's $15/month, or $.50/day...and it's definatly the way to go!

.. even though not an employee.. I can vouch for the smallness of those rooms, but also the convience of the location.. especially if you don't have a car to get into work and have something against riding the prison bus.

Ya Rob i really bet that you can lol.

My God send with my dorm room was my roommate was MIA so the room was pretty much all mine. You want to talk small-try fitting 12 other drunken ride ops in there with you! Yikes!
I've got a couple special memories in that room that I think about now and then!
(NONE involved Rob though-lol!!! )
The bathroom gets NASTY-it's like a grocery stores bathroom x100,0000-blech! I adored those "Clorox sheets" things for the showers!
The bus was pretty sad, I wonder if they ever got the transmission fixed on the blue bus or if it still sticks in 3rd gear? The funny thing about NOT taking the bus is as soon as you headed for a vehicle all the foreign employees would run to you and ask "you going to park?"
I would always reply, "no, going home"
Yea I can be a real b sometimes!

CrystalKat-I have been wondering where you've been-actually getting worried! Glad you're ok and still with us here!!!

Kelly we better get something in Bayside just so we don't have to park in the EVC lot and bombarded with people asking us for rides. Not juts foreigners either....I think I gave just about every seasonal employee a ride at some point last summer....lol

Dealing with the ride thing....as long as it wasnt a colombian, the phrase "No habla Ingles" worked well to thwart those people who wanted rides...its not as if we were selfish by not handing out rides...some people just stunk.
Tara, you are on to something.  When I worked there I thought about charging a buck a person for a ride over.  You'd supplement your fine CP paychecks.
I just hope to have a car before the season.

It would rock be like yeah i can get ya there on time but its a dollar up front for everybody that arent my friends LOL
ooh yeah.....that is a good idea about charging....gas money.....i'm doing that next year.....$2.00 person
