Dorms

My daughter wants to work at Cedar Point the summer of 2005 (she'll be 17 then). How are dorms and roommates assigned? Which dorm is the worst/best? Thanks.

Well, Commons Dorms are very nice, and are much more complex roommate wise. Only 3 people in commons dorms, and they include lockers and cable. They cost more than apartments per wk, but Gold dorms on point behind corkscrew is much smaller but very nice. It all depends on what's best for you, and I would consider visiting the webpage for more info on housing accomodations. As for roommates, I was able to pick my own roommate, and your daughter can do the same also, but availiability is a major factor, just make sure that a friend isn't processing in a month after your daughter processes in, or they can't be roommates. CP doesn't assign roommates, they are put in housing as they come.

Will she be 18 by the end of the season? If not there is an issue about her staying in the dorms.

As long as she graduates from high school by the time she works she can live in housing, but she must be 18 to work certain jobs.

Don't be too surprised if that rule changes sometime soon Drew.

Thanks for the info. My daughter will be finishing 11th grade in 2005 and be 17. Hopefully she can stay in a dorm. She knows she can only do certain jobs, but she is obsessed with CP and any job she can get is fine with her until she turns 18 and she'll hopefully be a ride op. She knows every inch of the park, knows who manufacured most of rides etc. She wants to get a job with Intamin and design coasters! She'll be a great employee! She has no one in mind for a roommate, so she'll just be assigned someone.

As of right now you must either be 18 or graduated from high school in order to live in Cedar Point housing. So more than likely, your daughter won't be able to live there.

This summer I lived in Gold Dorms on Point while I was working fulltime, and Commons dorms when I came back for the weekends. If I return next year, I'm definitely opting for Gold again because not only is it super convenient, its also cheaper (half the price of Commons Dorms) and you only have to deal with one other roommate. Just make sure to get a room air conditioner ;).

WERE ARE ALL THE DORMS LOCATED

There are some on point, and some on the main causeway as you head into the park, they are on the left hand side before you hit the water.

You know, the ones that look like prisons!

I like Common's Dorms, but their the most expensive. But, that A/C is great after a 95 degree day.

I lived in one of the apartments for about a month, it wasn't bad untill it started getting really hot outside. The AC is worth every penny they took out of my check for it. Its just so nice to come back to an ice cold room when it feels like 150 degrees outside.
Whatever you do don't choose on point housing it is a freaking ghetto more or less. Sure it is convenient but thats the only real plus side to on point housing

She won't be able to stay in dorms there because she isn't considered an adult unmder minor labor which i believe affects housing at CP.
Thanks for all your advice. My daughter will just have to wait til she turns 18 to work there. I live too far away to have her commute daily, but I'm trying to talk my hubby into buying a condo in Sandusky!!!!
