Doing away with Single Rider Line?

Disney's FastPass system works very well. You don't have to use it, and guests who don't use it aren't inconvenienced.

Well Six Flags was terrible last time I was there. On the Titan they were only running one train and "normal" guests were only allowed on every other train. That was the slowest moving line I've ever seen.

Except insofar as they have to wait longer for the ride while the FastPassers cut in front of them, natch . . .

The fast passers aren't "cutting" though. They got in line when they got their fast pass. Rather than waiting in the queue though, they are able to wait on the midway......and spend money.

So really, if you look at it from the park, the people using fastpass are more important than the people who do not.

Exactly. Everyone waits, just not in the same place.

That would be true if the Passholders in question were doing non-ride activities while they weren't waiting for line #1. But in fact, they're hombres inteligentes who are making use of their time by taking the time they weren't waiting in line #1 and spending it in line #2 instead. They've now created waits in two lines for two rides simultaneously.

Somebody is getting screwed.

Perhaps on paper, but in reality, no one's experience is made worse.

Ignorance is bliss?

^Or the same intelligent park goers who use Fastpass choose not to go wait in another huge, long line attraction (Mountains, Jungle Cruise, Buzz, Fantasyland Dark Rides) but instead spend their time going in line for a huge capacity, always short wait ride (POTC, Tiki Room, HoP, Haunted Mansion, Small World, Philharmagic, TTA, Monsters Inc, Stitch) thus not really negitivly affecting anyones day too much.

Let's say someone has scheduled to ride a ride in two hours that has a two hour line. They go over to another ride in the mean time that has a two hour line and physically wait in line for that. After they get off that ride, they go back to the original ride and get on immediately. They have therefore just waited in two lines simultaneously, while only physically waiting in line for one, thus congesting the park and making wait times longer because rides have to switch between "physical" people and people who just showed up at the exit. And some days at SF there is always a full train or more waiting at the exit to get on their scheduled ride. When a lot of people do this, and believe me they do, the wait times for premier attractions are doubled.

That's because you are comparing a Six Flags method to a Disney method.

Disney Fast Pass doesn't use the exit queue. Secondly, on busy days, FPs will be gone within an hour of park opening. Remember, you can only have 1 FP at a time, so if you have a 6 hour "wait" before getting on, you can't use it in other lines. But, it does allow you on those busy days to choose one ride to "short circuit" and still ride everything else.

Of all the systems that I have seen implemented, Disney's blows them away.

I just personally think that the most fair and efficient way to operate the rides is to have everyone wait in line and run as many trains as possible. The rides have a limited capacity, and when you start doing this fast pass stuff, someone is obviously going to have to wait longer. Even if this is just a little longer, like you can only have one per day, it still doesn't help the ride capacity in the long run. Now if you were to have no physical line and everyone just made reservations for everything than I guess it's possible this could work, but than your whole day would be scheduled, and that doesn't seem like an amusement park. I guess I just don't mind waiting in line because I enjoy talking to people about the rides and stuff.

Just curious how everyone feels about CP VIP. I know it is not used as much but I see quite a bit on some days.

It is not used so much it is a major inconvieniance. I would actually pay for it if I could not make it there as much. If I had one or two visits a year I would use it.

I'm going out to get some air.

Personally I'm not a fan of the VIP system, but because of the lack of participants, it's not that big of a deal.

Just a clarification about Disney Fastpass, you can get another fastpass when your window starts, or 2 hours after you got your FP, whichever comes first.
