I was at Cedar Point last Sunday and while I was waiting in line for Maverick I noticed they had the Single Riders Line chained off? Are they getting rid of this or do they do this on days that it's slow at the park?
^I noticed this last time I was there. Although when I noticed it, it was at about noon on a Sunday. So they may just do it on slower days.

Staffing is low at the point, Single rider line usually needs another position.
10 TL Gemini/Fireman on CP & LE RR
09 TL SkyHawk/TL Meanstreak
08 TL Mine Ride
07-Maverick, Mine Ride, Antique Cars, and everywhere else in zone 4
I bet next season, Maverick will be like dragster. One line for front load and one for rear load.
I find the single rider line can take longer that the normal line at times.

Well its nice for people like me who end up going by myself a few trips out of the year. I can wait the whole queue and then when I get to that point I can probably fast forward myself in line about 10 minutes ahead of everybody.
It was open last night. But staffing was low, so the line was a little slow. The ride host at the entrance to the station also had to check restraints in the second train and clear the train for dispatch.
1,146 rides on Raptor. Three rides in 2009.
The reason I never use the Single Rider line is because you have to go through the entire queue house anyways. If the SR line started near the entrance of the ride, it may actually be worth it.

^The argument there is that then people will jump in that line and expect to be allowed to ride as a group. I think a good halfway point that would eliminate some of the idiots from doing that is to have the split point be moved to right as you enter the old WWL station, there is plenty of room to walk along the edge of the queue and the wall of the exit shop there, and then you could just use the left stairway for single riders and the right for the normal queue.
You do NOT have to wait for the entire line in the que house. Just as you get to the shop area, just after coming up the wood ramp, you can duck unter the rail, go the gate near the steps and re-enter, then proceed up the right single rider steps. I know this to be the case because I got this information directly from park operations while is was in there questioning what could be done about line jumping. Maverick is the only ride that has this option currently.
Why ride coasters? Becuse there is NOTHING better to do than riding a coaster!
It won't help you. During very slow days (i.e. Friday's during HW) they do not use the single rider line.
If you really don't believe me though, call park operations and confirm this. Remember what I said about discussing the line jumping?? Well, that is one of the issues that I was discussing. I had seen several people doing just what I said, and I thought that is WAS line jumping. And, that is when I was informed that once you reached the station on the ramp that you could then proceed to the sincle rider steps. Again, check it out with park operationsl

The single rider line was chained up on Sunday, and the two times I was there in September. As for skipping the whole queue house, it seems like it shouldn't be allowed. The sign that says single riders use right stairs is at the stairs, not at the entrance to the queue house.

Yeah, I'm not sure that you're allowed to skip the queue house to get to the SR line. I don't remember exactly, but it does seem like it was more of a last minute split between the two lines, not something that could be done before going through the queue house. I also like the idea of having to do the initial queue on the ground and then being able to skip the queue house to the SR line. I also wouldn't be that upset to see the SR line abolished and just do it like Dragster with the left side for the front train and right side for the back train.

I agree with you that the start of the single rider should be at the steps where the sign is. But that is not the way it is allowed to be done. And if CP allows something to be different, then who am I to complain about it.
I am not sure, but I think that it was supposed to start at the steps. If it was originally supposed to start as you came up the ramp, then the rails would have been designed differently, and the single rider would be using the LEFT steps. But, that is just my opinion.

Re read my statement, I didnt say that you should do that now, I said that CP should make the SRL start there with a slight redo.
I think if the single rider line started that much earlier than it may see much more abuse. While the single rider line concept is good, I think it needs to be implemented on more rides to get the guests used to it. With none of the other rides in the park having it people may not even notice it.

I heard from an employee that its too hard to do with such low staffing. Also they dont like it because not enough "true" single riders use it...it is usually large groups of 5 or more that use it thinking it is a quicker way when that isnt really the case.
Now that I think about it, I'm not that big of a fan of special lines at all. Everyone just wait in line and ride. If there's one thing I absolutely hate it's the fast pass systems that so many parks implement. I swear the line takes twice as long because they go back and forth between "normal" guests and "premium" guests. Although it's not perfect, Cedar Point's system seems the most fair in my opinion.

Yeah, it's sad that we've come to a point where people have to schedule their fun. Bad enough that kids have "play-dates" now instead of just GD playing, but signing up and being assigned a time to ride a ride?
