I have already applied for a job at Cedar Point, but people thought I wasn't serious about it. I know the minimum age to work there is 14 but I never got a call or anything. So I'm thinking about reapplying within a year or so for the 2009 or 2010 season. I know its far away (by the way I live in Michigan about 150 some miles away from the Point) but I would really want the experience to work away from home and see if I can handle myself on my own. So here's my question to you guys who live kind of far away from the Point.
Is it worth it to stay away from home for like three or four months to work at Cedar Point? Please let me know on your opinions. I really hope to work there for a summer or two in the future. :-)
Thanks!
So stoked for 2010 :]

How old are you right now becuase you have to be 17 and graduated from High School to live in housing at Cedar Point. In my opinion it is worth it. You learn how to live on your own. You make a lot of friends and you meet a lot of differnt people from all over the world both guests and co-workers.

I'll be 17 by the 2010 season but I dont graduate until 2011. My parents think it would be a good experience for me before I move out of my house to go to college. Do the requirements for housing change from season to season? (I know probably a dumb question that you hear every time but I know like nothing about it.)

Nope. You must be either 18, or 17 and graduated.
Its more to avoid the mixing of adults and teenagers than anything else.

I still have like 2 to 3 years to think about this stuff still. I just really want people's opinions on if they like the job and if it's worth it to work there away from home for 3 to 4 months on an end, but thanks for the housing information! :-)

It really is a one of a kind job. The job in itself is amazing. I love my job there. And to add the everything the people you meet and get to know there are amazing. The guests are half the fun of the job. It really is a fun job to work at. I can't speak for the other departments since i havent worked in them but for ride operation it is a really good feeling knowing that you are making peoples day that ride your ride. Its really cool when you have someone that isnt sure if they want to ride and you talk them into trying it just once and they get off and thank you, thats whats the job is all about. I love it

I did that all last season. Haha, one of the operators wanted a picture of me because I made their day.
It was my first time on Wicked Twister and I was so scared. My buddy was like "Stop being a baby and go" So I went and as soon as i was all strapped in I was like "I WANNA GET OFF!" and the ride operator was like "It's not too bad, if you like the Raptor you'll like this." Then I was alright. As soon as the guy on the mic said "LAUNCHING IN 3...2...1" I screamed so loud. After the ride the operator that said it wasn't so bad laughed at me because I was so loud. When I got off I said thanks to the operator and he was like "awww you just made my day, can I have a picture with you?" But no one had a camera so we didn't take a picture :-(
But there's an interesting story for you guys to enjoy.

It's worth it, trust me. Or else people wouldn't go back season after season.. If you have a passion for the park and looking for an experience more than an actual job, I'd say go for it. Best two months of my life, no joke.

2007 - Mantis/Millennium/Raptor
If you read the FAQ's on CP's job site, you'll find that you must live within 25 miles of the park if you are under the age of 17 and not graduated.
I agree with the others that working at the park is a great experience. I will say that like every other job you have, it is what you make of it.

I love working parks in general, just look at my signature. In fact, I even moved to Sandusky after this past season. I love working at CP, it's the thing I do best. Sure I may be able to sell a good video game, but I can almost talk anyone into at least trying Dragster, even if they have never ridden anything before. But as everyone says, it's what you make of it. I had a friend try working here and kept to himself and hated it.
I'll probably still be here when you start, hehe.
