That's not saying CP is by any means neglecting the younger ones. They've recently added Camp Snoopy and have the entire area near the front of the park devoted to kids. In my opinion, that's enough; I didn't have Camp Snoopy when I was 4 years old at CP, and I still managed to have the time of my life. There's plenty of stuff for kids to do at CP.
While DT and Iron Dragon might be good intermediate roller coasters, aren't Wild Cat, Mine Ride, Cork Screw, and Blue Streak in a similar class? If not, 1 or 2 seasons without them will be something to look forward to.
Judging by the way Cedar Point is maintaining Iron Dragon and DT especially, I just don't see either of them lasting for a great period of time. If either or both are eventually torn down, I'm very hopeful they'll be replaced with an updated version of the same breed. I would be furious if DT was torn down for a new spinny ride or children's area (I have to have another indoor roller coaster if DT goes.

Cedar Point might be a thrill park, but it is also a resort. Families will continue to be very important. Families spend money.

Yes, we're not the only ones going to CP and families are important, but I think that's already been addressed at the park. I would be perfectly happy if DT was replaced with a new family type coaster. You can create a much taller coaster and it can still be intermiediate (world's tallest indoor roller coaster..I can see it now lol); instead of a large drop, the energy can be fed into smaller hills throughout the ride.
So...I come to the conclusion that Cedar Point will begin to break other records (e.g.- Most inversions in one coaster) and things like that...I am still young yet, but still like DT and would be sad to see it leave..but what if it were replaced with something bigger and better?
Like what was said earlier...you can hang on to the memories of DT, and even create new ones on the future roller coaster/ride to occupy that part...everything happens for a reason, and this would be part of something big!
edit: My thoughts after seeing where TTD was placed were, man, they really robbed that area...I think scenery is becoming the last thing on Cedar Points agenda, as well as themeing...but who knows what the future holds...

I think a Floorless Dark Ride at Cedar Point is just about crazy enough to work
Ok here is my question, what is the point of it beeing floorless if it is dark? On batman Knight Flight, the only difference it being floorless was that you could see the track. Yeah it was cool, but nothing to rave about just because it was a floorless. But having it dark, you wouldn't be able to see anything, so having it floorless would seem like a waste to me.

Because CP has space issues, I don't think they're ever going to choose the scenic "edge" of the blade. They need new rides/expansion for hype each season. If they continue to conserve Frontier Town as the scenic place (which brings about another good topic), they will place new attractions wherever the space is available elsewhere. However, the original point was why can't Cedar Point revamp/replace rides rather than constructing at entirely new sites?
Liebevision: They could actually get the most out of a floorless coaster having it enclosed. It's all in the lighting and effects. Picture heavy fog and columns of light radiating from beneath, or like I said, you're feet could be dangling above bright, glowing lava as you make a close pass by a volcano; there are so many options.

Iron Dragon and Disaster Transport may be the worst rides in the world to us but to other people, it might be fun. The thing is, if people continue to ride and the ride isn't creating a problem, then they are going to keep it.
Actually to other people the ride "sucks". We remember it as a great, almost historical, ride. The GP wants bigger, better rides.
I hope that no one misinterprets my thoughts(in this post and my last). I love DT and hope that nothing happens to it for many years to come. I am just telling the truth. I would much want DT to be renovated instead but, I just don't see it happening.

Sunday, Sunday, Sunday! Are your ready for some speed? We've got 120 miles per hour! Are you ready to get vertical? We've got 420 feet. Are you ready for the tallest and fastest rollercoaster in the world?! ARE YOU READY FOR TOP THRILL DRAGSTER?!?
I'm not saying tear down Blue Streak or Wild Cat, I am just saying, don't speak for the public when you can't account for them.

it was 2000, me and my friends were standing in line when we came to the 3 windows where it shows a large painting of cargo (boxes in a hanger) well... on some of the boxes, it says "Glass" and there is one inpaticular towards the center, it is a large box, with a 3/4 smaller sized box in front of it. the larger box said "glass" but the box infront of it covered up the "Gl" and left the large box plainly and simply spelling "A-S-S" or "ass". Me and my friends were goofy back then and it just so happened that a CP employee was sweeping the floor and happened to walk by, where me and my friends stopped her and said "it says 'ass' on that box there!" and she proceeded to get a piece of duct tape and cleanly place it over the "ass". but well... in 2000 the scenery was already basically gone...
But thats a kinda funny story and how i kinda left my own mark on cedar point. if they ever tear it down i want to ask cedar point for that picture.
The box is still covered, if you want to look for it its about a 5inch by 3 inch strip of duct tape, i think painted a black or brownish color now, on the boxes cargo hanger picture behind the windows. When you see it yell "MrFat did that!"
Although i do agree that DT is far to short, it is an enjoyable, pleasant ride, that is nice waiting in line for on a hot day :)

A ride's popularity cannot and should not be based only on those numbers. As someone mentioned before, and I'm willing to bet, majority of riders on DT are there for the air-conditioning, so those numbers probably are not from popularity...mantis, maybe..
