Actually, I don't know the answer to that, except to say that one part of the ride paperwork this year did schedule 6 shuttle operation for this season. However, there really isn't much point to have more than 5 running. With 5 you can hit interval so the shuttles never stop in the brakes, but with 6 running it would always stop, no matter how fast you loaded/unloaded.

They used to always try and keep it open as long as it was warm enough. Did they just give up, figured it wasn't justified, or what?

They might as well. Send the ride ops else where, I'm sure it won't be too hard to find a place for them.

According to CP's website: Snake River Falls will remain closed for the rest of the season due to cool fall weathers.

I wouldn't want to ride SRF if it's 50 degrees outside. On topic here, DT always had somekind of problems with the other 2 cars (either the wheels broke or the shuttle itself is broken).
